  11. Hi guys looking through my lure box the other day and i noticed a lot of the trebles on my small bream lures have began to rust, im guessing this would also affect the sharpness of the hook. Ive decided that its time to change them, what i need to know is what size, what brand, and how much are they worth? The offenders are the sneaky scorpions and smiling jacks. Any tips on how to prevent the buggers from rusting in the future? Thanks in advance

    Reel For Sp

I have a sienna and i find after i cast i have to flip the bail arm back over manually turning the handle to wind in the line doesn't click it over, annoys the shit out of me! Does this happen with the symetres and stradics?

  16. Good to meet you today ryan spewin about those 2 fish but anyway thats fishing. If its any consolation it was one of my worse days aswell. Apart from the lost lures, after we moved to the other side all we got was a handful of tiny snapper and i rkn i just about caught every toad in the hacking if thats possible i had my grandfather in stitches, it was one a cast for about an hour
  17. Nice report and haul of fish there mate spewing about losing the wahoo though
  18. Thought i would put a report up on behalf of my grandfather vince. My "nonno" has been fishing the harbour once a week for the last 3 years. At 70 years of age he and his also retired italian mate down the rd drive to the station, pick up some bait at the local fish market and catch the train into the city at 5am with all their gear packed into their little trolleys. They get off at milsons pt and fish somewre on the north westrn side of the bridge, occasionally they get a feed of leather jackets and flatties but nothing to write home about. With all this kingy action in the harbour ive been trying to convince him to try and catch some fresh squid for bait, but trying to teach someone new techniques at that age is pretty hard. He hasnt changed his technique since i taught him how to tie a patternoster , which at the time was the greatest thing since my nonnas last homemade lasagna . In the last few weeks hes been telling me how hes been getting smoked on his "department store" gear which is apparently "gooda stuff" and no name gear that he got conned into buying at the markets by his mate. A fort night ago his mate who wasnt paying much attention got a good hit and his rod buckled over and disappered into the water never to be seen again . I told him a school of kings had probably come through and he should be more prepared the next week so he should up his main line and leader line strength, and start using using fresh squid or peeled green prawns for bait. Anyway last week everything finally came together for him and he landed his 1st king albeit a rat it was legal nonethelss 63cm, and he lost a couple more . What makes it more valuable was that it it was landed on a jarvis walker reel with no name 20lb line (just aswell i told hime to up his line ), and a 10 foot red wolf rod that i had only just replaced the tip on with some super glue and a tip from a cheapo rod repair kit . Just goes to show i guess that if yor lucky enough you can catch kings on anything. So atm the king tally is nonno 1 me 0
  19. Just a quick report on some fishing i did on Saturday with my mate mickysacca and his dad Joe with such a good day we decided to spent a couple of hours wetting a line and flicking some plastics. Initial plan was to head over to cabarita but with a wedding taking place or something there was absolutely no parking so we headed back and went to the end of zoeller st where the back of Massey Pk golf course meets the water. The breeze was pretty strong and flicking a soft plastic was a bit of an effort. Spend most of my time throwing the plastics parralel with the foot bridge a few bumps but no hookups. Joe was fishing with bait and he got a small whiting and a solid hit which busted his leader all on prawns . By about 4pm the afternoon breeze turned into a cold wind, being in a t-shirt shorts and thongs this was rather unpleasant . To get out of the wind i began throwing my pink smilin jack around in the canal that runs under the footbridge back in towards the golf course. The canal is about 5m wide and a couple of feet deep. After a couple of casts i got what i thought was a solid bump, but being a little canal thought nothing of it (probably just a snag) Tried to give the bay another go but it was just too bloody cold. Changed over to a pumpkinseed bass minnow and started flicking it in the canal again, by this stage my mate mickysacca has come and started fishing the canal and just aswell (he wouldnt of believed what happened next unless he witnessed it himself) cos within the next few casts on the rerieve in about a foot or 2 of water about 1.5m off the bank i got a solid hit and a hook up zzzzzzzzzzz off he goes towards the bridge, "No you dont i say" and in less than a minute i land my pb bream on a bass minnow he goes just shy of 30cm mickysacca was kind enough to take a couple of pics. . After that we stayed another half hour and decided to call it quits. Not a huge amount of fish caught but good fun nonetheless.
