Penguin Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Very short report as the longer one that I tried to put up seems to have disapeared while I tried to post the pics. Caught these Strippies aprox 15km east of Syd harbour on Monday, 2 of the Strippies were caught using my new Fishfinder Pro Series rollered tip rod and Tyrnos 30 two speed reel, purchased from Fishfinder Tony on Sunday. We also caught some Snapper,Bream ,Flatties and Trevs at Clifton on our way back in. Our trip was cut short due to a gps failure, couldnt find Browns,Fads or anything. Penguin Tyrnos 30
Jaybee Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Hey Penguin, how do you find the drag on the Tyrnos 30, is it nice and smooth? I'm looking to replace one of my 30s and I'm thinking of the tyrnos. Cheers Jeff
netic Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Well done mate, good to see you get into some ofshore fishing.... Thats a very nice outfit
TheDiko Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Nice looking reel there mate, my old man uses that loaded with 80lb braid to bash the mountain and hopefully in the future catch some gamefish Would love to see a pic of the rod The Tyrnos has a nice and smooth drag, havn't put it past 8kg though (yes I'm a woose) but will try it out on heavier settings. Luringbream Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Great stuff mate! Top fish!! What did you get them on? Were they in a large school, or did they come here and there? Also did you troll a certain spot, reef, bait school? Or did you drop lines in the middle of nowhere and hope for the best? Any help is appreciated as im yet to get onto my first stripie! DAN

DAN Mate we got them on skirts cant tell u the name coz they are on my boat, but I remember Tony said they were made by a co. named Williamson. As our gps had failed we just tried middle of nowhere and hoped for the best, and they were not in big schools. penguin Edited May 15, 2007 by penguin
sanger Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Nice one!!! The strippies are good fun!!!! we caught a heap a few weeks back while hopping for something larger but a day of them is still top stuff!!! I bought a tld 20 and a shimano tipan roller tip a little while back and love it but recently a mate offerd me one of his tyrnos 30s and a shimano backbone for a pretty resonable price and i couldn't help myself so i should be picking that up this week!!!!! They are nice!!!! not that the tld 20 isn't but they just feel a little smoother and i know looks count for squat when catching fish but i do like the look of the tyrnos over the tld's!!!! tight lines
mako1 Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Sounds like you had a great session, even though the gps failed. Looks like a nice outfit, thinking of getting one in the future to replace a tld. Those Williamson jets are great for the stripies.
