johnv Posted September 16, 2009 Share Posted September 16, 2009 (edited) 1fishing1: well people we left here on fri 4/9/09 pm on the plane for gladstone airport ,then to the hotel for the nite . In the mornin to the boat to load our gear on and drinks. left the wharf at 4pmsat on the austrailana for 16 hrs to swaines reef on the way out there we all got into setting up our rods/reels over a few drink,s on sun mornin got up & started to set up the boat for fishin in the arvo & nite. arrived at swaines late arvo & we got the tinnies of the top of the boat & started to fish the reef.we maneged to get about 30 coral trout & 2 spannish macerals all of good size.Monday thru to wenesday we managed to get approx 140 more coral trout, 6 spannish macs 5/6 sharks which they went back also 1 large cobia, & about 30 hussars . On thursday mornin we moved to the deeper waters for some drifting wich then we were catching 6 to 12kgs snapper wow ive never seen snapper that big before we caught 4 of them & 1of 7kgs nanny gai & some 3 to 6kgs pearly perch & a couple of nice 3 to 4kgs parrot fish also 4 red emperor which were about 4to 7kgs & estury cod ,also about 15 red throat sweetlip. thats it for that day we had dinner about 8pm with plenty of liquids afterwards & relaxing. the next moring up again & into it we were catching big snappper , red emperors , red throats , hussars, pearly perch, & more large cod. by the end of the day we started to loose some goood size fish from them nasty sharks.Anyhow by this time it was time to start calling it a day & start heading back to gladstone. As we headed back we cleaned all of our gear up with some liquids of course,then a sleep. the next morning we all got up started clean everything up & a tally of our fish was annouced all up was about 327fish caught to take home , arrived at gladstone late sat arvo then taxi to airport on the plane home late that nite.. all in all had a great time even if 1[ one ] bloke did spoil it for everyone, cheers everyone john Edited September 16, 2009 by johnv Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Great photos and report of what was caught. didn't realise they even got snapper up there. Any info on approx cost and the gear you used and what gear you would take next time ? johnv Posted September 21, 2009 Author Share Posted September 21, 2009 (edited) hey hookerbruce; i took up with me 2x penn 950ssm with 7ft rods with60 & 80lb braid on them & 1x diwa saltist-lw 50a with 6ft overhead also 1 x okuma titus 30ii with 6ft roller tip overhead with me & used all 4 rods at some stage of the week.. cost of the trip was approx $3000. thats everything included ,grog,airfares,bait,&all tackle, taxis to & from the airport.. cheers john thanks for the replies everyone it was a awesome trip john Edited September 21, 2009 by johnv Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
