  1. I will die a happy man once I have landed a legal snapper.
  2. Yeah I heard them refered to as "poor man lobster"... The only time I've caught one big enough to eat was well before I would have considered eating them.
  3. Hey mate, Have spent a fair bit of time out there in the last 6-12 months and for the most part it's been very disappointing. =P I will add that we have only been fishing SPs. (soft plastics) One thing I can tell you is that there is no shortage of Seargent Bakers and plenty of Red rock cods, or whatever they are. Only fish I have kept from there are a 75cm jewie caught at the crack of dawn and a small slimery mackeral for bait. I've heard from a few mates that bait works well on pinkies out there but yeah, I hardly ever fish with bait. Worth a shot though. If you can get out there on a calm morning then the fish are only a bonus. Best of luck.
  4. Evening Fishraider, Firstly, I realise this isnt a fishing report so feel free to move it to the appropriate area but please dont close it. I've just noticed lately that any thread that has even the slightest amount of contraversy involved is closed as soon as being viewed by a mod. I understand this is a family site but I feel it is important that the contraversial issues are discussed for the knowledge of those that may not understand the rules and regulations that apply to fishing and the waterways in general. Everybody has the right to their say so maybe instead of just shutting everyone down for having their's maybe it'd be a better idea to create a new section of the forum for these matters. That way people can choose whether or not they want to view the content and get involved. If the thread turns into petty name calling and fighting then I agree to close it then but from what I see the majority of the members on here are mature and fair, well, the ones that post anyway. Tight lines.
  5. Yeah we've had our fare share of seargent bakers that's for sure. Have got some crackers too I'll admit.. Noticed you're in Pennant Hills as well! Props to be a local.. I'm in Thornleigh..
  6. Hey mate just looking at your PB's in your sig and noticed you have listed a 113cm flattie! Can I ask when that was?? And possibly where? That is insane.
  7. A nice little haul of fish there mate. May I ask, lures or bait?? Gahhh the reds still evade us! Got jewies, kingies and everything else on the plastics but just can't get a red.
  8. Unlucky! Sounds like a bit of fun though! Where were you exactly? At the rail bridge that woy woy bay flows out through? I'm confused because you said Woy woy road....? Cheers!
  9. 3 very tasty specimens in that photo. Well done on a nice jewie.
  10. Those flatties are well decent but I love how the jewie just dwarfs them all. Lol top stuff!
  11. It certainly is a great feeling landing a croc that big.. My PB went 90cm and I was shaking for a good 10mins afterwards.. Would love to see some pics of her?? Edit- Awesome fish
  12. Any real reason why the shark had to be killed?
  13. What a beautiful looking fish... Not that that's what I'd be saying had it just taken my leg for lunch I also agree with Shaune and Chewy though. It's pretty disgusting how the media has portrayed this. The last thing we want is irresponsible fisherman, and there are plenty of them out there, to get the idea that they are going to go out shark hunting. I realise the bull shark is a killer and a menace to humans but it still deserves as much respect as the great white shark. Anyway that's my 2 cents.
  14. Top Bream! It's been so long since I went bream fishing.. Might have to plan another trip soon.
  15. Nice little session... Aaaaaah I remember the days when I thought lure fishing was a waste of time.. hahaha bait? What bait? Bream def looks legal though. Good stuff for being on the safe side and letting her go..
  16. Awesome feed! Fried up crispy in butter. YUM Top work.
  17. How big is your new boat? I'll be up the coast this weekend but just be aware of the conditions if it's your first time out. All weekend are expecting fresh NE winds developing and reaching up to 30kts, approx 50kmh. It's going to get bumpy out there. Also, watch out for the great whites Best 'o luck!
  18. Agreed! Not so much about the spot (as I haven't fished Narra Lakes for years) but chicken breast, wooah! I was very sceptical at first when my stepdad suggested chicken breast as a bait but I was keen. Fishing off our jetty in Phegans Bay on the central coast small bream, snapper and whiting are common on bait. We went down one night with chicken breast and only caught keepers! Also caught the biggest snapper I ever have on chicken breast at 26cm. Not big (or legal) by any means but a good fish and nice fight on light gear. Back she went to grow a few inches more. But yeah, chicken breast works.
  19. A very healthy looking jew. Top effort and congrats!
  20. Cheers guys! Was caught on a Berkeley Gulp 80mm or 100mm I cant remember.. Def worth the money to grab a few different packs. The lizards love 'em! I believe it's more about the action though. Happy spinning.
  21. I find all you need is a hand line, a fish head and some patience. We just throw the bait out and wait fro them to start pulling. Then very very slowly retrieve it as to not spook them. Then just scoop them up with a net when they are in range. Have caught heaps like this. Random tip - Put them in the freezer for 10mins before putting them in the pot. It's far more humane.
  22. Great report and looks like a fun day with a mixed bag. Well done! And that is an awesome pic as well. Don't worry, it doesnt really give the location away anyway
  23. Thanks mate! It wont be long until you are catching good flathead as well. If you're not sure it pays to ask where you should be going and what baits/lures to use. I was using soft plastics and drifting in one of the many channels near to the rip bridge. There is plenty of fish about so its only a matter of time. Good luck!
  24. Hmmm can I give my fish to your sister to cook for me next time? Looks good!
