Dangas
Hi Raiders Just need a bit of advice regarding braid and leaders. Im new to braid lines and have just spooled up my reel with some 10lbs fireline. I have also bought some 12lbs vanish fluro line as well which i want to attach to the fireline but wanted to know what length should i put on so that it effectively does its purpose without taking away the feel of the braided line? Dangas
Hey Buddy, What are you fishing for? I use about 2 rod lengths when im using SP's and HB's for bream and flatties. However, when using poppers for whiting and bream, i find a shorter leader works better for the popper. This is just my experience. All the best, Mike im generally using braid with SP's for bream, flatties, trevally and tailor and fish in the bay where water depths range from about 12m to 1.5m depending on what im chasing
The Iceman
A rod length of leader is the norm
Dangas
Thanks for the tips .... i currently have about a rod length and a bit at the moment ... so i might just stick with that for now.
rockfisherman
I use about 1.5m of leader....any longer than that i found impedes the distance of the cast, plus that leaves enough to change your jig heads if you must or switch over to blades or a hardbody lure. johnv
i normaly use the lenght of the rod & never have a problem cheers john
Day's Fishin
I agree with the others about 1.5m or the rod length. Regards Jeff
Goran
I normally use an arm span of leader, but for poppers use a shorter length becuase flurocarbon sinks and plays up with the popper action.
matty
Same as the others, about a rods lenght or there abouts... Never done me wrong.
JaniFIN
I use about 75cm between rod lenght, debent what fishing.
stylo
For light applications, I've used a rod length 7' down to 20 cms (lazy to retie). Works all the same.
