Hi Raiders ...just want to share about saturday fishing trip...we've planned the trip since second weekend of May with some of the guys from my work....long story short we make our way to Brooklyn marina where we hire the boat:biggrin2: weather wasn't promising on the way there as heavy downpour along the F3

but we persevere because waited so long ...as i was asking for opinions of the boat hire the weather cleared up and off we went

1st stop is the spot where i went fishing early may and almost non stop catching fish from 7:30 till 4 pm during that time so we went there to see if there will be a repeat ....it turned out the best decision i've made....

1st fish my mate landed is a 36cm bream....10- 15 min later as some of the guys firing up the BBQ a 60 cm Flattie come on board everyone is just stoked as about at least 4 of us hasn't seen let alone catch flathead that size some are first timer fishing

as the catfish start coming on board here and there another flatties landed short by a couple cm from the 60 cm mark

as the heaven turn on the sprinklers we kept on going coz there is almost zero wind only a few boats are in the water and i managed to land a Shovelnose Shark took my pillies on a gang hook and some how tangled to one of my mates lines as i freed him from the tangles i give it a quick measure and photo it was measured 72 cm:biggrin2: as i released the shovelnose unharmed my other rod buckled and as i reel it in my cousin saw some colours he was a bit "What the ??" i saw the colour it was a Hairtai and my eyes was lighted up like christmas tree as my cousin about to netted it ....it went for a last dive and suddenly it felt light ....Aaaarrrggghhh i was so upset i started swearing in 5 different languages :ranting2:

as i realised the Hairtail take the bait on my light rod that with out wiretrace

not long after lunch after semi quiet session mixed with catfish and small blue swimmers caught on the line and some flatties just over 37 cm and some odd little stingray one of the reels make a noise that have some serious fish zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...........my friend went to grab it and having the fight that he never experienced before .....then some of the boys start calling out what fish is on the other end of the line ....in my head i know that it must be a jewie....after about 15 min fight on a 8lb braid on a 2 - 4 kg rod we see some colours and it was a jewie biggest one we ever see....(well for most of you raiders would be just decent heheheh) as me and my cousin netted the jewie we give a quick measure of 72 cm approximately about 4 -5 kg:1yikes: maybe (just a guess by the weight of it) everyone is feel the awe of the Jewie and high fives all round and big smile too:thumbup::biggrin2:

as towards the end of the day it get quiet but everyone is having a blast as most fish landed is above the legal limit :yahoo:and most fish caught with prawns (yes....even the jewie was caught with a prawn)

(i'm trying to upload the photos but can't do it somehow)

Hey Tomski,

I enjoyed reading yout report. The buzz of catching the mighty mulloway never fades and each one is special. Good size over 70cm and well taken using prawn. I love that you can swear in 5 different languages - cool.

Mike
