Stone Fish?

i left the bait trap out after dark and found this inside with 3 or 4 small bream..

what are your thoughts??

Na i dont think its a stonefish they are alot more 'stoney' if that makes sense... Cant help you with the id though...

It's a Frogfish. There's different comments in a couple of my books... one says harmless, the other 'reputed to be venemous'. It's not a Stonefish though but I still wouldn't be playing around with a fish that looks like that.

I think it's a Tassled Scorpionfish & if it is it has poisonous dorsal fins.

Yea its an Eastern Frogfsh, theres heaps of the in the Hacking around structure.

Yeah mate, caught one at careel bay one night.. never caught another.. it took my bait into a hole it seemed, as i thought it was an eel, it struk and the rod bucled.. the fish was only 15cm.. it croaked like a frog when we got it out too.. i refused to touch it, so my mate dave got it off haha..
