DaveTheBoy
With a few (dead) yakkas left over from last night's ever-fruitless endeavour to catch a jew - decided to head for a spot of beach fishig this morning. Tried fishing them whole on ganged hooks to no avail. With stocks running low - decided to stretch it out by cutting into pieces - this salmon was produced on the first cast! A great fight in the surf with a few small leaps in the whitewash! Landed a flathead of average size on the same rig shortly after - but alas the camera battery had run out so no pic there sorry. sydlb
Nice effort off the beach. Haven't had any luck in my last couple of outings.
Stippy
Nice Sambo. Had a few donuts on the mulloway front myself lately, probably because I'm determined to catch one on a lure. Was that Garie beach? Cheers, Adam.

DaveTheBoy
Thanks for the comments - yes it was at Garie beach. Haven't fished here in a couple of seasons - the new carpark & facilities mean that this beach gets crowded a lot earlier than I remember.
dofa8046
I've seen stacks of salmon mooching around inside the harbour so it makes sense that there would be plenty on the beaches too. I think that when it comes to salmon it's always good to have a strongly scented bait like a fillet or pilchard, unless it's live of course. Nice work! jay83091
How about using Halco's metal lure?

Dave Don't give up on the jewies dave! Should of used those yakkas off the beach at night. Gang hooks are only good for catching tailor on pillys. Gamakatsu in the octopus pattern is the way to go. Salmon is fun but catching a jew is something you will never forget! Good luck
