Sydney Bluefin

After chatting to the longliners and hearing quite a few unreported reports, tomorrow we go :yahoo: . Its seems they are here in very good numbers and alot closer than people think well in reach of the trailerboat brigade. So if you want to chase the elusive bluefin now is the time as the window may not be open for long!

Just saved an image from sea surface.com i assume this is where you will find them? your opinion will be appreciated.

:1fishing1:

according to that sea surface image there looks like a good temp break in between browns and the peak right where the plonk hole is.

Finin, keep us posted with how you go tomorrow. We are all anxiously waiting for any info of tuna in Sydney. The boys down at Bermagui are doing well with the bluefin atm, so the yellowfins should be here or at least on their way soon.

Sorry guys didnt get in till 11pm, well the good news is the water looks great, temps varying between 18.3-20.3, current running downhill.5kn. Left the heads and greeted by three majestic humpbacks on their way up the coast and thought its going to be a good day! Conditions were good yesterday light westerlies in the morning and 1.5-2m sth groundswell which got a little rougher to the 12mile as usual then started to peter out after that.

Began the day with a blue eye drop for three from 6 to 15kg and a silver dory? Quite odd as they usual only come up with the trawler nets. Silver or mirror dory are exactly the same as John Dory except silver and not of the eating quality of brother John. The Blue Eye are in roe so for the next couple of months will be hanging around.

On the tuna front, we started cubing east of Browns at 200pm. Plenty of bird life prions, cape petrals, gannets, albatross etc, water temps 19.3. Looking good, waiting begins, waiting, waiting. Just about to pack up and a rod goes off for about 10 seconds and that was it! Suspected culprit was thought to be a blue shark. Packed up yhe stumps and left for home.

No other boats out reported anything, thats tuna for ya. As to your thought on were to fish Hammer. Id be chasing that distinct edge and looking for a good 3 degree break in temp. But you never know when the bastards will turn up. Good Luck all.

Yes Hammer if you are prepared to chase the fish in a trailerboat then go for it thats what they are there for. If conditions are right then id be going for sure. M8 you never know whats going to happen, whatever you get to me is just a bonus to the effort, besides its a lovelly part of the world and a nice drive!
