Hi There Raiders,

Have been a member of the forum for a while as a lurker. Thought I'd post a report to earn my keep. :)

Decided I wanted to get into squiding the other day so I went down the local chain store and grabbed myself a $99 combo that I thought would do ok. 7' light Snapper rod. Figured it would also double as a general purpose LB rod. Until now my arsenal has included a light spin rod for Bass, A 13' Surf Rod, and a couple of Tenkara rods. Figured the light Snapper stick was a good compromise considering my budget wouldn't stretch to $200+ just on a Squiding rod.

Anyway, grabbed myself a bunch of different squid jigs and packed a bit of terminal tackle as well and headed to Bundeena yesterday arvo. I had google map viewed the wharf area and noticed what I thought might have been some submerged rocks and potential good Squid ground.

When I got there the water was bit too shallow for my liking. So I thought the Wharf would be great. One fisho, and a bunch of kids jumping off the wharf having a great time in the water. I decided to leave them at it and head back home without wetting line.

Driving back across the Woronora river I made a last minute decision to get some prawns and give them back to nature. The tide was on the way out but there was still plenty of water at my feet.

I originally went to the eastern bank to set up in the park, but got a bit spooked by the gate curfew. I had no intention of spending the night in the car! :frozen:

So ended up on the western bank between the bridges.

What a great decision! 2 mins after casting I was onto an active Flattie, just a shame it was a little undersized. From 6:30 till 10:30 I managed to land 8 little palm sized Bream and a Puffer Fish.

Whilst I didn't get a feed, I was impressed with the feel of the new stick. Even the bream were a bit of fun despite the rod to fish size ratio. :D

Apart from the small fish caught, there was plenty of bites to keep the interest up, no doubt more little tackers.

All in all, a great night chilling by the river playing with my new toy and enjoying the rain showers.

Next time though, I'm gonna commit to the Squid!

Cheers

Andrew.

Nice first report, sounds like a fun little session even if the weather wasn't great. Well done for breaking in the new combo with some fish, I'm sure you'll be on to some squid next time round.

Thanks guys for your responses.

Hoping to get to Berowra with my dad on Tuesday to give the Bream up there a bit of a nudge.

Hopefully get some pics and have a bit more to write about.
