adamski
Had a good session this afternoon on the run-in in the Cooks. Plenty of trevally about at the moment putting up a decent fight. I had 6 in total, ranging from low 30s to one 47 cm specimen plus a little bream and tailor. Everything caught on the old faithful Z-man grubz. Set up at one of the bridges later for something bigger, one take on the bottom from a flatty, but all I got apart from that was snags and lost tackle. adamski
Thanks gents. Just an observation I've made over the last few sessions in that particular stretch: casting upstream and hopping lures down towards them in the current seems to work best at the mo, their instinct is to hit the lure and then travel against the water flow, which slows them down and makes them expend more energy. If they do turn and follow the current their instinct seems to be to head in towards the edge of the river, so you need a tight drag to keep them out of snags. rockfisherman
The fish from the cooks in the stretch he is fishing are a no go to eat +1 Definitely wouldn't consume, but tell that to some of the guys right up the river who actually do keep the fish. Good fun those trevs on light gear, lots of grunt. Well done

Well done Yeah, everything I do in the Cooks is C&R, but I've seen guys around the likes of Tempe keeping fish- surely they must see the amount of crap in that river and have second thoughts? I wish the water was cleaner- steady source of fresh fish 10 mins from home, rather than having to trek out east like today!

jenno64
Great session there! It's funny but we all know those Trevors are travelling in and out of Botany Bay so what does that say for fishos who take a half dozen from the end of the runway that may have feasted all night up the Cooks! That's correct. Same as the Harbour, when you are told to eat fish one side of the Harbour, but not the other side.
