krause Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Im full of questions today, what do people do with there cuttlefish. Do you cook the ugly little buggers, or just bait (im assuming bait). If so how and for what, do they freeze, preferred size etc. Cheers guys
blaxland Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I like to eat what I dont use for bait after cleaning dust with flour salt pepper and oregano pan fry on olive oil. Or freeze individually in sandwich bags (best done on the boat)
REELCRAZY Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Amazing sashimi mate, prob my favourite raw seafood, so buttery !!
krause Posted May 1, 2017 Author Posted May 1, 2017 ....eat them you say :/ they just don't look appitising haha. Next one is coming home i guess
New Signing Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Cut the big flap out of the hood and eat it just as you would calamari only in strips instead of rings. Use the rest as snapper bait
rickmarlin62 Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 cut hem open and cut into strips rather than rings..use a sharp knife and slash lightly into the strips in a cross pattern then they cook easier and roll up like shop bought ones..i soake mine in a container overnight in a milk and garlic mixture..then crumb and fry...there is a product called crumb in one that's easy and tastes good..rick
krause Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 Cheers guys. Would you beleive after catching multiple in a row, i haven't landed one since making this enquiry
JonD Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 They are the most stunning creature you are likely to meet under water, I simply can't kill then after diving with them. Everything else is fair game.
