we tried many different baits at mannnnny different depths and spots .

yep you guest it not a bite they got us again ,we did not feel so bad after asking four other fishing party's how they went ,

and received the same reply from all NOT a bite .

one fellow blamed it on the high tide ????

can anyone shed some light on the subject .

I guess it's as @rickmarlin62 once said.... that's why its called "fishing".... if we knew all the answers then it would be called "catching".

At least you were out there rather than infront of the TV. Good on ya!

On a more constructive note, remind me was it an overcast night or bright moonlit night?  Did you burley?

Hairtail will be where there are baitfish.

Cheers

Zoran

Saturday was close to full moon.  I had the same issue with them last season - went out near full moon and not a bite to be had.  I've booked my annual trip in with the boys and we are targeting new moon this year!  See how we go.

Unlucky mate,

But at least you got out there

I would suggest moving around, if one spot isnt working move to another, find the bait and hopefully you will find the hairtail

Im heading out some time during the week, hopefully get a couple

Went out on friday night till 2am Saturday in Jerusalem bay on a kayak, caught two hairtails but dropped one. Many Bites but could not hookup.

My experience is around 14 meters of water and 5 to 6mtrs baiting from a float and aided with lights.

I have caught hairtails on different tide mainly rising tide.

Good luck...
