Quick whiting bash landbased

  • Wasn't game to launch the boat yesterday with all the traffic expected so I took a few nippers down to the banks of the lower Georges to fish the  northern flats on a rising tide in an area I have been eyeing off for a while. Lost a legal whiting early then the bigger one grabbed a nipper in a foot of water...thought it was a ray the way it pulled and it went close to 40cm. Got another about half and hour later in the mid 30s and headed home. I'm looking forward to fishing this spot on an evening rising tide;)

Hey Rob,

You've been 'eyeing off' a spot?

How does one do that? In camo gear sneaking a peek from behind a tree with binoculars and sunnies? Lol.

Now we are eyeing off your whiting.. Very nice fish, especially from landbased.

They would have gone hard being hooked so shallow. They are among my favourite fish.

Well done.

I've walked past this spot at low tide a few times and thought it would be worth a go with nippers on an evening rising tide but gave it a go with a morning tide. Shall be back when the tides are right to try an evening bash:)
