JimmyLovettBay
Gday fellow raiders, I’m new here and also new to Pittwater fishing again having been overseas for many years. It’s been a joy to rediscover this part of the world and also how good it is to catch a few fish! I don’t remember it ever being this good going back 10-15 years when I was last here. The last month of lockdown I’ve been out for the hours around dawn and dusk everyday, putting in a lot of time! I’ve been catching consistently legal reddies before dawn off Woody point. Couple of Bream in the 35-40 cm mark off Pitt Point. Solid Trevally Pitt Point also and on the Eastern drop off Scotland Island. Flatties mostly in the 45-60 range on the Flats by the carpark at church point at high tide. Snook at night around Little Lovett. Almost everything on small type vibe/blades. So happy to be in Australia soaking a line. Just wondering if I’m having more luck due to light gear/vibes or if reduced commercial fishing is having an impact on Pittwater. Maybe both?! Does anyone know what the current situation is regarding commercial fishing in this area? Will it ever become like Sydney harbour? I can also contribute my successes to all the info from you, on this website.. so thank you!! cheers, Jim.
BigHorse
Welcome to fishraider!! I don't fish around where you are but it seems from what you have said that the fishing isn't half bad. I would say reduced commercial fishing has a massive impact on the waters. Also light line and gear would help. Try introducing yourself on this so more raiders get to know you! Tight lines👍
Rebel
Welcome aboard. I doubt if you will see commercial in the Pittwater. I lived there for over twenty years and there was nil. Cheers.
Bryant fish
There are a heap of prawn trawlers in mouth of the hawkesbury and I've seen a few commercial guys around with traps
