fredflathead Posted November 9, 2022 Posted November 9, 2022 After having a 1974 Carribean Crest Cutter for 31 years it finally has gone to God. I purchase another Crest Cutter 1989 in beautiful condition checked out by a Shipwright who said it was a good solid boat (I loved my Crest Cutter) and it came with a slotted cross bollard. The original Crest Cutter had a bollard with a hole and the rope came through the new/secondhand boat has a slotted cross bollard. My question when travelling on the water does the chain go through the cross and lock off and the rope goes through the hatch into the storage bay. My first boat the anchor was stored in the pvc pipe like everyone uses.
zmk1962 Posted November 9, 2022 Posted November 9, 2022 Yes. My Haines originally had the slotted bollard and I had a pvc tube to stow the anchor. The chain goes into the slot. You should have a captive pin there as well to slip through the chain and lock it in place. A safety feature that stops the anchor being thrown into the windscreen if you hit a wave at speed. cheers Zoran
fredflathead Posted November 9, 2022 Author Posted November 9, 2022 Thanks for the reply. The bow roller has a pin so this would be the safety feature.
Rebel Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 I had a 1978 Crestcutter with a 115 hp Johnson on it. Great boat. Go anywhere. Cheers.
campr Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 My Quintrex has a slotted bollard and I wouldn't have a boat without one now. I mostly have a Sankar anchor in mine but switch to a reef pick when appropriate. Locking pin keeps everything secure. Ron
