Aussie_fisher
Came for a quick flick at bobbin head, just to pass some time as I know there isn’t much to catch there. However, I saw a few massive snapper easily in the >45cm range. The only thing was, they were dead. It’s not a fish kill, as there were only about 6 or 7, and I usually see something like this whenever I Come to bobbin head. Anyone know why there are always these dead giant snapper this far up Cowan creek? Just curious
Restyle
weird.. maybe a trawler offloaded them or a fisho with a few fish too many offloaded them with a approaching maritime boat?
noelm
Seeing as there is only a few Snapper it kind of sounds suspicious, no idea what, but definitely "something" do they look fresh or old?

Aussie_fisher
@noelmthey are decaying. There are little fish everywhere swimming around them eating them up, and there are a lot of parts where the bones can be seen. I don’t think it’s a trawler, as I usually see something like this whenever I go to bobbin head. It’s just this time they were massive, and as someone who regularly goes fishing there I had no idea that such big snapper even lived in those shallow waters where the river comes to an end. I would have contacted the dpi, but there were only like 5 or 6 so I didn’t.
