Bowler Bob
Any opinions on the necessity for an outboard motor support? Stacer Crossfire 449 with a 70hp Yamaha on the back. My local ramp at Soldiers Point is about 12km/15mins away from home. Sealed road the whole way, but a few rough patches and speed humps thru built up areas to negotiate. First time boat owner and upon dealer delivery 3 months ago I made the enquiry and was told 'not necessary'. Have read a little bit lately and second thinking that advice. noelm
Should be fine, is there enough clearance to travel with motor down on the trim range? Transom savers are sometimes called transom breakers! The issue is keeping everything together, if the trailer is moving independent of the boat (not strapped down tight enough) then a transom saver will add extra stress on the motor.

Rebel
Mate, I have had several boats over the years. Towed them everywhere never had a problem. Go Fishing & enjoy yourself. Cheers.
jeffb5.8
For a alloy boat with a light motor under 150hp, i have never used them, my current boat travels all over NSW and i just use the travel locks on the motor, just slow down on rough roads and speed humps. I also secure my boat very well to the trailer to reduce boat and trailer bounce.
