I’m looking for some advice. Shortly I’ll be moving from Sydney to the Sth Coast. I’ll be a 5 minute walk to Narrawallee beach & although in the past I’ve had some reasonable fishing sessions there I’m wondering are there better beaches in the area or what are peoples favourite beach fishing locations on the Sth Coast?

For the last couple of years I’ve started fishing Conjola Beach a fair bit and have been getting good results, including my PB tailor. The north end of Racecourse is another good beach down that way.

Let us know how you go. I have started exploring a few different beaches down there. Apart from the odd ray I haven't caught anything other than salmon off the sand since autumn. Bengello is my local. More variety off the rocks.

In reality it doesn’t matter where you are, beaches are beaches, just look around your area and see which beach looks best. Gutters, sand banks and so on change all the time, what fished great this week, might be dead next time. All that said, some beaches seem to be more consistent for certain species, usually due to a creek or lake opening at one end, and any beach that has some reef/rocks scattered out a bit tend to be my “go to” when fishing a new area.

Racecourse usually has a gutters about1/3 and  2/3 of the way down the beach  , I had a van there and fished it regularly , mostly bream , whiting and salmon . There are pipis and worms on that beach . Fished burrill and wairo as well , I found wairo to be a little bit wilder than the others so if the swell is low head there as it usually has some action on it , never wormed there but there are pipies on all those beaches . If you can’t get pipies or worms you can pump nippers in burrill lake on the south side west of the bridge there is a sand bar there . Gutters form and fill in so all you can do is drive around scouting things out

Thanks for the responses guys. Yes I realise beaches change day to day & I’ll definitely have a better idea when I can fish most days. With a 5 minute walk to Narrawallee I’m sure I’ll get to know it intimately..  lol
