Hi guys,

So i have been experimenting with techniques with soft plastics for last couple of months.

The standard rotation I have been using is either

  1. hop hop
  2.  pulse towards me in bottom of water column (very similar to a technique from Luke Kay described in his targeting of Flathead on doc lures https://doclures.com/five-best-sydney-fishing-spots-luke-kay/)

I am noticing the pulsing movement, the flathead is normally lip hooked instead of a partial swallow of paddle tail which frays the leaders.

I am guessing that since the bite normally occurs on descent the Flathead is swimming up towards and striking it rather than chasing it along the bottom for the strike.

Not sure about everyone else experience but would like to confirm. If true then i can reduce leader fraying chances quite a bit and need to replace them

Sorry, what is "pulsing"? Can you please explain?

so its a rod lowered and flicking it towards you and letting it sink back to bottom.
