Marc Whitty
I’m looking at buying this boat and was wondering if it is ok to remove this metal seat thing that runs across the boat? Looking to remove it and lay down ply with proper seats
Fab1
That thwart(seat) and the back one will be bracing that boat giving it rigidity and buoyancy. I’d move along and find something else unless you want to remove and have bracing welded in . Edited February 24 by Fab1
noelm
As mentioned, the cross seats (thwarts) are for strength and have foam inside them (well, most do) , without them, the boat will be “wobbly” some get wide gunnels welded in the maintain structural rigidity, but, that’s not easy or cheap to get done, best to leave it as it is, or keep looking, that’s quite an old boat. BaitDropper
Yeah, agree with above comments, plenty of better alternative options out there rather than to delve into a structural change.. I
99FishingWorld
you can still lay the PLY in there like that. Definitely do that as Im not sure how anyone can walk around in a boat like that
