  1. Congrats on the croc! funny about the ex!
  2. Hi had a day off and decided to see what's around and fished middle harbour landbase. The water was filled with bait fish and signs were promising, however winds were gusty and the day was bright with no overcast for cover. Started a small burley trail and flicked out a piece of pillchard and noot soon after a small trev took a liking. Then something else bigger jumps on and up comes a bigger trev. By about the 4th cast something bigger jumps on and busted me off the pilons but luckily it was just my hook that went missing. Upgraded the hook size and in goes another bait. All 5 mins later my line goes nuts and i'm on and this time i'm trying my best to avoid the pilons. After a few mins of seriously bent rod and aggressive head shakes, up comes a great size trev again. These little trevs are awesome fun on light gear and one of my favorite fish for a curry or bbq. On 4 pound leader i was pretty pleased with the catches. Got home and as part of my routine, a quick pic from the kitchen sink Enjoy
  3. i've tried catching worms for 2 hrs while being trained by an older experienced fisho. Came up with a lobstered face that evening from the sun burnt and no worms or fish to show for All good fun though
  4. Hi bretto, nothing special, it's an affordable setup, maybe $200 max... its an everyday rod which i use for bream, trevs and for catching bait etc... its a 6ft rod ($80 setup shimano of some sort carbon), sienna 2500 on 6 pound braid and 8 pound fluoro I must say for a cheap reel, the sienna is great. Its really versatile for the type of fishing you do land base of wharves (which is what i mostly do). I've even caught a soapie from it by memory. The closest hawkesbury system for me would be bobbin head but i havent found the art of catching anything decent there, land based anyways.
  5. Last sunday was beautiful in sydney. Had the opportunity to fish or to have an afternoon siesta and decided to go for a fish. Went to my local with the misses and a 6 pack of cider a camping chair, a dozen oysters from the fish markets as nibbles to keep the misses happy and nibbles. As i was about to sit down to enjoy the nibbles, my misses's rod goes off and with a bit of luck landed a 31 cm model and 5 oysters later it goes off again and this time a 30cm comes up. Left 20 mins later as the sun goes down and most importantly the misses didnt feel bored. "her kind of fishing" as she described it I havent caught bream this size in years especially in sydney and off a public wharf so i was totally suprised, so i'm glad this season started off well. Tight Lines
  6. what a horse! Well done! Do they go for cooked or raw prawns and what type of rig beside the very light line? congrats again
  7. Seriously the disrespect some fishos have on the environment i.e. leaving bait bags, plastic bags, garbage, old baits and other general waster. People that disrespect the environment should undergo public humiliation and be publically embarassed and or fined. Wish there was a way we could easily make that report to the authorities annoymously
  8. Hi all these posts excites me. I'm looking for someone to head out and tackle one of these fellas. Is anyone willing to head out Sundays? I'm from north west of sydney and usually hit the northern beaches.
  9. Wow! Congrats and well done. Your post in inspiring on both lures and kayak fronts Well done
  10. Hi Mullowway man, thanks the advice. Sorry for my delay in response i never knew how to find my inbox till years later. Have you been out lately and how did you go?

  12. Yeah it was awesome fun. Will be on the lookout for a repeat session soon.
  13. Decided to head out fishing with my best mate last Sunday. We wanted to get some green eye so we tried around Little Manly and worked the walls. Worked both sides only to find little 2 little fellas which turned into bait. Then we thought we would try at the elusive luderick. We set out to the rocks of northern beaches and found ourselves a good ledge. Weed was a little scarce but we managed to get some. Now armed with weed are now set for our first attempt. We managed to get 5 luderick and 1 drummer. Largest was 34cm and drummer was 31 cm.
  14. just a quick question - when you use the bread - do you squash it together to get it into a white dough or do you just hook it in to the original form of the bread? Ive always tried the squshing into a dough but never any takers. Thanks
  15. Hi Raiders, i was planning on doing some fishing off pittwater near palm beach by hiring a boat this weekend - has anyone done the same lately and if so can kindly share any reports? Like to target anything really thanks
  16. Hi All, Just wondering if anyone would be interested in fishing with me (that statement sounded quite desperate ) I dont have a boat and my landbased spots are your usual wharfs. I have cleats but not overly confident in fishing the stones so hence wharfs. So if you're looking for a buddy, helping hand or someone to fish and you have spare spot on your boat then feel free to call or msg me. I have my own gear and happy to share costs. Im usually free on sundays and maybe saturday evenings but like all men with partners i have to check with them first. I live in the Eastwood region if this helps. I used to own a boat and have a boat license so i can help you there too. Tight lines and prey the gods to give us some decent weather given whats left of summer. Cheers Fisho Sid
  17. I have a funny feeling that u won't even get to see them at night. Good luck
  18. I havent seen it but a little imagination says that you simply plonk it in the water - as you're boat drifts one direction the parachute will go the other direction hence causing some resistance for you. Just chuck it in i say. Hey if you're ever looking for a partner in crime i wouldnt mind tagging along. I'll be happy to pay for fuel, bait and licensed too.
  19. Is fishing off clovelly beach legal? thought it might be protected?
  20. Hey mate Great result , I've tried many times on hard bodies and they always seemed spooked. What lure was it? U must have a good technique...
  21. If only i saw this thread earlier - i have a boat license and actually owned a boat myself but sold it. However iam now 'desperate and boatless' for some boat fishing. If you are ever looking for someone, feel free to let me know. Just email me if you like bongsid@hotmail.com cheers
