  1. yeah i know tell me about it, i have caught jewies before just never on my boat and after many trips i caught 2 in 40mins and then my mate caught one the next day and we havnt seen one since but we dont really target them much so im not surprised, like you said we just have to be patient. thanks deano
  2. thats a cool little jew i always wondered what the go was with them surely they dont go from eggs to monsters. dont worry though that little fish will remeber you and come back for you when its a 20kg monster with any luck. and the other one is definatly a silver trevally they are fun to catch but im not a fan of them being cooked up they dont taste the best. good post mate. cheers
  3. mate i would be hating life. if you dont mind can you let me know where this spot was it sounds familiar, i get out on the hacking regularly its a good drop. i wouldnt have a clue what would have hit you sounds like it was either something huge of you hook was made out of al foil ive never seen a hook bent straight before. sounds like a bit of excitement better than not having a hit all day. because to have hit and lost is better than not being hit at all.
  4. thanks dave i thought that might be the case, i will look into it. seems like there is alot of factors to consider. cheers
  5. hi im new but i didnt think that would matter, i always hit up the georges river in my boat and we sometime go for the jewies so if you let me know what day ill be part of the team, i can usually only go on weekend though. sounds like a really good idea and i am def keen to get involved if youll have me. cheers.
  6. hey david nice to meet you two, that would make 2 of us. that would be frustrating . well it depends on how hard the current is ripping through if it is hard i think i use a size 2 ball sinker or maybe 3 if its a weak current i would drop down untill my bait doesnt drop like a rock, ive actually never come across that problem before. are you fishing from the shore?? im not the best to give advice on shore fishing because i rarely do it.
  7. saturday (02/05/09) i have a boat so i usually go to botany bay, port hacking and georges river on the south side of sydney, there are some nice spots around there with a nice variety of fish, these places are worth having a go and the area is not very difficult for people new to the area. id recommend botany bay first up its my favorite.
  8. I have been fishing for over a year now but have only just got a boat a couple of months ago, since i got the boat we have caught some great trevally and some monster flathead, heaps of average flatties too and some nice bream , we have been out for jewies a couple of times with no success recently but the jewies just take time. anyway when we go out we make sure its going to be okay weather like its not too windy or pouring down with rain but i have also heard that the moon, water temps and stuff like that has an effect on fishing ? we have caught some nice fish so have we just been getting lucky?? does it really make that much of a difference?? can you tell me a few things we need to look out for?? cheers your advice is much appreciated.
  9. what is a yakka?? let me know, maybe even put up a picture if you could.
