  1. 2lb is crazy stuff, 4lb+ for me, I guess it's working for ya, good fishing mate. Mick
  2. Love the drive in and you're off idea. If you ended up grabbing the same Panasonic camera like mine, there is a resizing feature on the camera... works a treat. Mick
  3. I've got one, and the dimness is a setting you can adjust. They're good quality, and IMO up there with the best grayscale sounder available at that price point. They do the job well, but consider a colour sounder, I've also got a Lowerance x67c for my kayak and I like it a lot. Mick
  4. Cheers Nick, I'll catch up with ya soon mate.
  5. I'm kind of greedy like that, the deal was I get the first three kings and my sister and her friend would get the next two I needed my kingy fix. I think I need a second downrigger Mick
  6. Hey everyone, Took off the collect bait first thing, got a stack of yakka between 15-25 cms and then motored on as the Sun rose. First pass, nothing, second pass nothing, third pass... by then my sister and her friend were doubting my spot and getting fidgety. Then it happened, snap goes the band, and I'm on. My sister hadn't seen how a hard a kingy could fight, and was shocked to see it pulling drag. No cracker but first of the season. Mick
  7. 3:40 on video 4 killed me. Made my day hahahaha Mick
  8. What are you chasing mate? Try the South western shoreline all the way around the bend from Alfreds point bridge for flathead using 4 inch powerbait minnows, pillies and prawns. Good luck with it. Mick
  9. http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Marine/Compact-Sonar-Fishfinders/X67C/ It's cheap and works very well, I've got one on my Outback. At one stage they were $400ish but they come down in price. Good value. Mick
  10. Nice fish mate. Nothing wrong with taking her, there is no shortage of flathead out there, anyone ever heard of flathead being a threatened species? (rhetorical question) Mick
  11. Cheers Hodgey, Send me a PM when you're heading down there and I'll give you a few spots to try that have really fired for us in the past. It's a great fishery that holds some really big cod. Love getting down there and whacking a few. Mick
  12. Windamere is firing right now, so I've be told. It was hard work at Burrinjuck, with my team only getting 2 yella all comp, I did score a respectful 477mm fish in the shallow on a ZX30. The winning team won it with 7 fish I think, so it was a slow weekend for everyone. At the end the winner revealed his game plan, he said it was all about the flats, 3 to 7 feet of water, with vibes about the same size as TN65's but a lot lighter. I pulled my good fish out of about 3 foot of water, so I should have stuck with it. The last time I was there it was all about the 20 feet rock faces with spinner baits and LCB's, so you need a good pre fish and sus it out good and proper before the tournie. We got a billion Redfin and a couple of cod, one going near 700 and fat. The biggest fish went 540, so I was happy with my 477 on 6lb. Good fun but crappy weather. Good luck at Windamere.
  13. What works for me: 1-3kg rod with 1000 size reel with Sunline Super PE in 6lb, with 4-8lb FC leader (rod length) tied with a bimni twist and an albright. Mate your next post will be for advise on how to avoid over casting into trees... I flick around very light plastics and micro vibes with minimal fuss. Fireline is harder to cast but very strong. Mick
  14. Hey mate, Check out my post: http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=50291 and consider one of these: http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=50233&st=0&p=367216&fromsearch=1entry367216 Kings mate kings.... Mick.
  15. Doubt it mate, what about party cruises. On the TV show RBT they only ever RBT the person in control of the boat. I could be wrong but hope I'm not because I take the opportunity to have a few when I'm on a mates boat knowing (or assuming) that I can't get done for it. Mick.
  16. Sounds lovely, will try for sure. Cheers Mick
  17. Anybody here fishing the comp this weekend? With the dam level at 100% it's looking to be a cracker. Been looking forward to it for months. Mick
  18. Good fishing and I like the jewie. I love S Factor, never leave home without it. Mick
  19. Nice fish. What did you think of the ZX's? I've got a couple and I reckon that they are gonna be killer on yella. Mick
  20. It hasn't been as muddy as you'd expect after some rain. I don't mind it coffee coloured, can bring the big bream out for a bite. Mick
  21. Love a good jewie story, great eating at that size, well done mate!
  22. Wow a 92cm Surgeon, I didn't know they got that big, what did it take? I've only seen one about the size of a big bream. Good to hear the kings are there. Mick
  23. Love the footage mate.... gotta love yak fishing!
  24. Yeah it should be fine but make sure your knots are done properly, because if a big king hits you, you'll be in an arm wrestler for a bit and the weak point will be at your knots. Last year I landed an 87cm king on 15lb mono and the following week got smoked on 30lb after a long back breaking fight. That same spot I've seen blokes get done on 50lb. My reels are all fitted with Sunline Super PE (Green) 1000 6lb for Bream and EP, 2500 8lb for Flathead and School Jew, 5000 30lb for Cod, Kings and live baiting jews and 8000 50lb for downrigging Big Sydney Kings. Hope this helps.
  25. I've got the same rod but the light not the medium, I've got a Twin Power 5000 on it with 30lb. Really enjoy fishing with, I toss large plastics wih it... great for Snapper, Jews, Sydney Kings etc. I bought mine to chase large Murray Cod. Mick
