  1. Nice Stewy, good to see a little Jew being caught. Mick
  2. I'm in anytime, I'm just a phone call away. Let's do it
  3. I think that 80% of fishos that know how to give it a flogging would carefully return the fish to the system. Mick
  4. You might be right Che, Joey gave me a sip, himself a sip, and poured a little bit into the water.... And within half an hour his PB Bass was boated. I've already asked Bane to bring some down to Mulwala.
  5. I've got Jews on those before, but with heavier jig heads 3/8 to 1/2 ounce about 3/0 hook size. I would make every attempt to remain in touch with the bottom half of the water column and put some action into the lure. When the tide slows, you can lighten up significantly. On the dead low, i've got them on SX40 imitations and 2 inch grubs while going for Bream. Those 1/4 ounce jig heads will be great for your flatty, even in the shallow water. Good luck with it. Mick
  6. Mulwala here we come.... 2 weeks to go.

      Thanks mate, can't wait.

  7. You're welcome mate. Top Bass, what a way to start the morning. That Paddletail shad you were using was on fire. Good fishing all-round and good company.... Nice sampling that Serbian spirit too. Look forward to next time mate.
  8. I couldn't resist Stewy, I had to see for myself So I took my mate up there in my boat. You're right.... some nice females are holding under that wash, my mate got a nice mid 30's specimen. I got a nice fat Bream of 38cm, and plenty smaller than that. EP, Bream, Bass and Flathead were all caught at some time of the morning.... love Chippo. Mick
  9. Good stuff mate, Burrinjuck sure is a nice get away. Mick.
  10. I've used Nitlon, Sunline, Blackmagic, Vanish, plus other brands, and I reckon they are all work fine. Recently, I bought a 275 yard spool of 4lb fluoro for $30 bucks and it appears the same as the smaller leader spools that can be bought for about $20. If Bream guys can fish fluoro all the way through, with no "leader" then it's good for me. I've noticed no change in hook up rate. Someone in the industry told me it comes off the same machine, another person told me there is a difference in how hard the material is. It works, and saves you money. You just need to get a razor and cut a little catch in the plastic spool. Mick
  11. I remember you telling me about that Salmon.... I caught a little Tailor near the Liverpool weir yesterday, couldn't believe my eyes. Mick
  12. Nice feed there mate. About 10 years ago I caught 3 baby Hammerheads and 3 school jews in the Hawkesbury, all on bait. Those Hammerheads must hang around in the river for some part of their youth.
  13. Hi Nick, My wife Michelle used to work with you at IGA She says hi. Mate, the Hawkesbury is full of Jews, you just need to know where and when. It is true that they will turn up in most spots at one time or another, but there are spots that do hold fish on a regular basis. Expect many Pike Eels, Rays, Shovelnoses, Baby Hammerhead to be caught if you're soaking big slab baits, but you've gotta be in it to win it, I guess. You could try 6 inch Gulp grubs or 7 inch Gulp Jerk Shads, that will eliminate the pesty species being caught, although I did catch an Eel on a Powerbait Grub the other week. Bring on Winter on the Hawkesbury, my favourite time of the year for Jews. Mick
  14. I asked a mate the same question a few years back, and his reply was..... "in the water" made me laugh, but he was serious. For me the Hawkesbury has some unreal Jew spots that have fired for me in the past. I would be concentrating your efforts in waters that have a bit of murk to them. eg Roseville Bridge area, Parra River, thats my thinking. Good luck with it. Mick
  15. My most expensive is an Evergreen ES Flat 145mm jointed LCB, paid $40 reduced from $75. It's got an incredible life like wide "S" swim which should be deadly on Cod and Jews at night. I'd shed a tear if I lost it.
  16. Hard against the shorelines with small SP's with about 1/8th ounce jig heads, that'll work. If HB's are your thing, Chubby's are the go. Try drop shotting a jerk shad in 50 foot of water for a Jew too.
  17. I'd work your albright really tight, and get that tag end really short. When you're spooling up the reel watch to see if the albright is in a position that may catch, and align it to cause you no grief. IMO you only need a bit of mono backing with modern reels, therefore your albright should be deep and out of the way. I've had the same problem years back, and that's how I dealt with it. Hope that helps. Mick
  18. Just a thought, have a look at a little v nose punt. I had a tinnie years back and it was very unstable. I have a v nose punt now and love it.
  19. Nice fish mate... Gee I'd love to take my kayak through that creek. Mick
  20. For SP grubs very slow, just so the tail is working. I like to keep my lure as tight to the structure as possible, for as long as possible. I also like to cast parallel to the shoreline, and slowly hop the lure along. I mix it up a little until I work out what's working on the day.
  21. Powerbaits are made by Berkley, but are in no way a Gulp. Powerbaits are Berkleys' range of proper plastics. When Gulps first come out, I was worried that Berkley would stop producing them... so I stocked up on about 20 packs of Grubs and Bass Minnows. Fortunately, they are still being sold I like Squidgy Wrigglers too but prefer Powerbait grubs. The Powerbait is stiffer and has more action/presence in the water IMO. I love S Factor, and never leave home without it. Something that I've been doing of late is fishing a little heavier than most would in Jighead, about 1/8th - 1/12th in about 1-6 feet of water, staying in touch with the bottom longer and of course longer casts. You pick up more Flathead this way, but I'm getting good amounts of Bream too, about 5-10 in about 3-4 hours in the yak.
  22. Hi there mate, Get yourself some 2 inch Powerbait Grubs (see pic) on anything from 1/8th to 1/32 or ever un-weighted. They are by far my favourite Bream SP. Being a 2 inch lure you do get small fish but a 40cm+ Bream will smack it. If find the tail action great too, nice wriggle on the fall. They're a nice lazy mans lure as it doesn't take too much to get some action out of them, and with a bit of scent smeared on, fish will often pick it up off the bottom or have a second attempt. Be prepared to lose tails (again see pic) The water where you're fishing may have a but too much clarity, and the Bream are a little spooked. Ghost blades, Switchblades, Chubby's, SX40's, StikePro Micro Vibes and Smiling Jack's in Gold Shrimp imitation are all proven Bream catchers, and I'd preference them in that order. Mick
  23. I retired my US made 8500ss about 6 months back, it served me well for about 10 years, caught me sharks, Kings, Jews... I now run a Saragosa 8000 with 50lb. My SS gets loaned to friends who chase kings with me but don't have a reel to suit, the drag pressure spikes a little when you're on a good king but it still does the trick.
  24. Silver Perch? http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://www2.mdbc.gov.au/subs/fish-info/native_info/fishimages/silver-perch.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www2.mdbc.gov.au/subs/fish-info/native_info/silverPerch.html&h=303&w=600&sz=74&tbnid=g2owR8LrC0B7hM:&tbnh=68&tbnw=135&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dsilver%2Bperch%2Bphoto&zoom=1&q=silver+perch+photo&hl=en&usg=__e_RBJiak8CUpMLE80-a422PYLQo=&sa=X&ei=h1lmTfiwO82qrAfK99zaCg&ved=0CB4Q9QEwAA If it's not, I'm stumped.
