  1. G'day Raiders, Waiting all week for the weekend and hoping we'd be spared from the rain, took the family down to Port Hacking for a fish today. With no action at all last week i was hoping that would change this week. After we left Gray's Point Boat Ramp we noticed a lot of people fishing up stream which was quiet unsual. We opted to escape the crowds and headed out to Hungry Point coz the has now developed this urge to go squidding. Not much happening at HP so we moved across to Jibbon Beach. After about 5 minutes the screams with absolute terror not knowing what she had brought up. It turned out to be a massive cuttle fish weighing approx. 4 kg. unfortunately the wife was in histerics and the little bugger got away not before spraying the surrounding water with a huge amount of ink. (amazing how much ink it dispersed) Anyway managed to pick up a smaller one which we kept.....yummmmyyyyyy!!! Cheers Rob
  2. G'day Ben, I've noticed the same as well mate....went out last Sunday and got absolutely nothing....planning to go out tomorrow and sunday there mate in hoping they'll be biting.......still chasing that big flatty or hoping for a kingy.....if the weather holds up i'm going to try port hacking point which is on the bundeena side near jibbon beach......and also hungry point for some squid.... Cheers Robert
  3. G'Day Slinky, what a fantastic report and what an awesome haul of fish you got there......hope you had plenty of good eating there too......awesome location , was up there a few years ago and hoping to go back up there for some fish some time soon. Cheers Rob
  4. Hey Monch, Good to see you were out there yesterday and at least caught something......we spent the whole day out at port hacking yesterday and only managed one undersized snapper and an undersized trevally. wind was howling quiet a bit out in the middle of the bay. cheers
  5. fantastic report peter.....i love reading your post's but they're starting to make me jealous Cheers Robert
  6. well done zephi.....congrats on a whopper mate....i'm so excited to see that is still plenty opportunities in port hacking. cheers

  8. G'day Raiders, hope you all had a good weekend. took the crew down to the hacking today.....it's always nice to get out on the water but must be only lunatics who go out in winter anyways we're excited being our first boat and all so we're keen on getting out as much as possible. First spot we headed to was hungry point opposite bundeena for some squidding but no luck today was actually hoping to catch the anchor i lost there a few weeks ago lol. with the weather being quiet pleasant and not much of a swell we drifted out past the heads in hoping to catch something worth while. a bit of action started for us around jibbon point, we pulled in about 5 flatties all tiny. then we seemed to be losing our bait to what we thought were leather jackets but turned out to be these; hoping you guys can tell me what these we were......we threw em all back in. all in all nothing to brag about but always great to be out. cheers
  9. Hi Zephi, have caught a few numbies in the hacking and actually stepped on one before near the lilli pilli sand flats earlier this year........very yucky feeling. i guess just like slinky was saying if in doubt chuck it out.
  10. good luck greg....what size motor do you have?

  16. Hi 5star, sorry for the late reply. i love the hacking mate and i frequent the place nearly every weekend. recently i've been taking a liking to fishing great turriel bay. stay close to the shore say about 10 - 15 metres....to where the depth drops from about 3m to about 8m. burley up the water......there's been word from my local bait shop that there's quiet a bit of john dory being caught off there. a couple of weeks ago we caught a few good size snappers and some mammoth leather jackets. unfortunatley the lj's are in plague proportion's at the moment and it's a bit hard to avoid them but i reckon it's got to do with the bait your using. we were using live nippers... there's also word that apparently big jewies frequent that spot as well. not far in the bay there's also a good spot for catching squid but i tend to favour the little bay at hungry point for squid due to the water clarity there, i've had great success there. let us know if you're interested in other spots in port hacking and i'll pm you some apparent hotspots there i'm keen on checking out. cheers Rob
  17. Congrats mate on the new boat......great feeling aint it? we all know that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you've wanted one for so long and finally get. it took me 14 years to take the plunge and get one. hope you have many memorable experiences with it and catch plenty of fish cheers
  18. WHOA! what an awesome recipe jewdreamer...... and all this time i was trying to figure out where to go fishing lol

  21. G'day raiders, Whilst i'm still learning the ropes with my boat i was hoping some of the more experienced fisho's with boats out there can advice on capabilities my boat can handle. Boat = Quintrex 440 Coastrunner Size = 4.55m Motor = 40 hp yamaha 4 stroke Fuel tank = 50 ltrs I'm not looking to travel out into the open ocean but i'm hoping when the conditions are right like a nice day with minimal swell, is it possible to go just outside the heads? Is the motor powerful enough? Meaning is the boat okay for a trip just outside. Advice and experience would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Rob
  22. G'day Lasty, It took about 25 -35 min give or take.. to get from Georges River National park (Revesby) to the 3rd runway. Not bad if you feel like a nice cruise but bare in mind the top speed of the boat was 50 kph and you need to factor in the slow zones ie 4 and 8 knot areas as well as no wash zones. But all in all it's a nice cruise and it gave me the opp to suss out a few of the fishing areas i'm interested in. Cheers,
  23. Very nice looking snapper there Gary.....hoping to catch some that size and more down Port Hacking way mate. Enjoy it mate!!! Cheers,
  24. G'day Raiders, After Enduring Saturday morning sporting comittments for the kid's, Luke and I were itching to go for a fish after his soccer game. Promised my brother who's ill at the moment i'd take his boat out to give it a run for him. Luke and I set off from georges river nat park went out cruising a bit and headed out to botany. we'd never driven all that way before in a boat and found it quiet enjoyable and it didn't seem to take us that long. All in all we fished for about an hour on live nippers which seemed to be getting smashed by leather jackets and the one and only catch went to my 8 year old son Luke who pulled out a nice Flatty near the 3rd runway which measured in at 43cm. Man you should've seen the look on Luke's face.....PRICELESS! And that was our day today and tomorrow the family and i are heading down to Port Hacking for a day of fishing......will keep you guys posted. Cheers,
  25. What a whopper of a kingie...did you actually go out into the open or did you stay inside the heads? also what kind of boat do you have?
