  1. hi mate, i've caught jew out of my tinny in morrison bay, im not sure where abouts on tennyson point you are, but im down near beach st and tennyson road, and i launch the tinny and just drive it around to the point between morrison bay and glades bay, theres a bit of a hole just in there and i get soapies sometime with the 5 inch gulp jerk shads. You can access it by land just off the end of tennyson point, but i prefer to be in the tinny so i can cast in towards shore. also try either side of the mortlake punt, theres ettys all around there and the jew hang there too, i get them on the same type of lure again sometimes. cheers mate and good luck, ill probably see you sometime im only about 2 minutes walk away i assume. James
  2. Hi all, I haven't really got that much of a report but just today we bought a new house in newport, and my good friend *young gun* happens to live in the same bay as where we bought, as my parents were busy signing contracts etc etc i walked around the bay to his house, where i found him cleaning gear from a recent trip that morning, when we saw a large school of mullet swimming past his wharf. We threw out some handlines with tiny little rusted hooks and some old bread and sure enough, we landed 3 mullet in succession, in the space of about 5 minutes. Had never caught a mullet before, and now these models, about 35-40cm each will sit nicely in the bait freezer until the time comes for them to be converted into some nice pan sized bream or flathead! Looks like the move to newport is going to bring some awesome fishing adventures bettween matt and myself Looking forward to it mate! Cheers all, James
  3. mate i would be scared as hell out there during that storm, we got it and it was bad enough on the land, let alone being offshore good job on the stripeys and tailor anyway, cheers James
  4. you're a legend mate, thanks heaps for your advice cheers JB
  5. good fish! would have been awesome fun cheers JB
  6. the salmon have been schooling in salts bay for the last six months or so, i also live in sydney and have a holiday house up in swansea, i caught them on whole pillies on ganged hooks, but couldnt get them to take plastics or metals or any artificial lures. They are nice sized fish though, from about 60 - 75cm generally. There's always monster bream hanging around swansea, you just need to know where they are and how to catch them cheers, JB
  7. thanks for that, i think that sort of outfit is more in my price range while im still starting off cheers JB
  8. Hi guys, Myself and fellow raider YoungGun have been reading up on these fantastic reports of countless kingfish and bonito being jigged up off terrigal, and we are keen as mustard to get into the action. Only problem is that we are not 100% sure of what it is we are doing We would be heading out with another friend who has jigged for kings before and has a few marks in his hand held GPS, but were wondering if a.) Could anybody give us a few marks that often produce for them? (don't worry we arent going to completely decimate the area, we just wanna catch ourselves a king or two.) b.) The sort of gear we would need? I.e whats the cheapest but effective tackle that will get us on the water. c.) what size knife jigs and if theres a colour preference? I was thinking about just picking up a few off blah blah poop but dont know wat size i need. We will be in a Haines 585 Seeker, which should be more than big enough for gettin to the reefs i assume? Thanks heaps guys, all advice is valued and highly appreciated. Cheers, JB and YoungGun
  9. haha bruce, that's prety cute haha. Little buger must have been completely oblivious to what was going on around him. JB

  12. that sounds awesome mate, good job on the yakkas, but where abouts was this? i can never find a spot to catch yakkas and i live in gladesville and have tried just about everywhere. Was this kissing point? Cheers, JB
  13. Cheers Matt, yes i will get the jew don't you worry. Also you and me are gonna get a few kings as well Soon brooooo. Cheers JB
  14. hi there i got a 6.0m quinnie half cab and the trailer has rollers on it, my dad backs the trailer into the water and i just drive it straight up onto the trailer and he hooks it on and winds it up the remaining 50cm or so, its been in the centre every single time, and the process never takes more than 2 minutes. I'm only 15 and i have no problems handling the boat and driving it up onto the roller trailer, its doesnt really matter what's on your trailer in my opinion, its more about taking the weather conditions around you into acount, i.e wind tides etc. cheers JB
  15. would have been a great day on the water and that PJ would have been fun bringing in cheers JB
  16. Hi guys, This morning me and a friend headed out in the little tinny to see if the parramatta river had started to warm up again, we didnt leave until 10am and werent expecting much, it was more just to get the tinny on the water again and burn some petrol After about 2 hours of throwing plastics for donuts we found a nice spot tucked in behind the marina at cabarita, with small tailor taking everything around us and the shoreline looking good for flattys, we decided to have a go. After about 5 or so casts i managed to hook up to a nice flatty on a squidgy stickbait and after a short fight i had the flatty sitting in the environet. she measured about 47cm. We then moved on to the bridge further up the river, just near the wharf and boatramp. I dropped down a 5inch stickbait and immediatly got hooked up, JEW JEW i thought to myself but when i brought it up i was surprised to see a fat healthy bream of 33cm. This fish was one of the fattest bream that i have ever seen, and weighed a tonne. After that fish it went off the bite and we called it quits not long after. It was a great day out on the water with my friend and was awesome to get a couple of nice fish as well. Cheers, JB
  17. well done, would have been quite a challenge but a great fight! cheers JB
  18. Hi raiders, I'm taking the tinny out this sunday to give it a run and burn some petrol getting ready for summer, will more than likely wet a line while im out there and was wondering if any other raiders are going to be on the Parra river on Sunday? Perhaps we could meet up? I'm always keen to meet fellow raiders, i'll be in a white 12ft open tinny with an old 15hp evinrude on the back, if you see me don't be afraid to come over and say hello Cheers, JB
  19. that's awesome mate, im still to catch my first jewfish but am certainly looking forward to the day i do. I hope i meet somebody like musty while im out targeting them next Cheers JB
  20. great to see they saved the shark it's a real shame that they are so endangered though, only 500 left on the east coast, that's just sad.. JB
  21. wow that's a beast of a whiting! JB
  22. hi mate, as long as you have a sufficient length or mono or flurocarbon leader up near your lure/hook, the colour shouldnt make any difference, i have about 1.5 metres of flurocarbon leader attached to my braid just to be safe. I use yellow braid, but that's only cos i think the yellow looks nice on my reel and in the water Cheers, JB
  23. great looking jew there, shame about the other two lost ones. Cheers, JB
