  1. i think the Backbone would be a great combination, an affordable yet durable and quality outfit!! Cheers, JB
  2. i wouldnt know but from other raiders posts it doesnt appear to make any diference, i guess it must be those short sharp noises like droping a sinker that does scare the crap out of the fish! JB
  3. sounds like a great weekend im going out for a jewie sesh with Young Gun on saturday night at gladesville and then on sunday morning we are taking my 560 quinnie spirit out to middle harbour and sydney heads to see if the kings are starting to warm up yet, hopes arnt too high but you never know unless you give it a go Also it sure as hell beats doin nothing, should be a great day! Have a good one, JB
  4. thanks for that, some awesome footage there and ripper fish!! JB
  5. well done mate at least you got the nice flatty, she's a fine looking fish it still beats work! Cheers, JB
  6. I have a pretty general rule of thumb, which i understand that most people will beg to differ or just disagree with.... For lures of any sort (except trolling offshore) i use braid, just because you can feel everything and the hook up rate just seems to be better for me, i guess because i feel the bite and strike earlier. For bait fishing i prefer to use mono, no real reason why i just do... i've got a bit of a superstition that i get more fish on mono with bait but as i said everybody's different and that's just me. Cheers, JB
  7. yes i am, absolutely over it, what happened to the glorious constant fishing weather? JB

  11. Hi mate im not too sure about rock fishing or catching grouper but i can tell you now that if it were me id be going at least 30pound like, but more likely 50 pound. JB
  12. that spot looks brilliant mate, shame about the bee sting. Well done nonetheless.. Cheers, JB
  13. Hi guys, Just felt like i had to let you know that i've finished my AFL season wonderfully, with us taking out our grand final last week 13.7 - 85 to 8.2 - 50. We managed to get through the entire season undefeated including semi final, which in my opinion is no easy feat at an U/16's level. Im absolutely over the moon and just thought that i had to let all the raiders know Competition is U16's Div 2 Sydney Harbour Juniors and my team is the mighty Glebe Greyhounds! (We are only in Div 2 because our team of "U16s" only has about 5 out of the 22 players at an actual U16 age, with the rest, including myself, being U15) Now having finished the perfect footy season I think its time for a perfect fishing season Bring on the Kings!! Cheers all, JB
  14. mate that looks like great fun, good job on the bluefin! cheers, JB
  15. it is a little bit skinny, though a great looking fish nonetheless.. i think you may have been doin it a favour in putting it out of its misery, 2 hooks in your gut would be quite painful and would definatly impact on your eating. cheers, JB
  16. that's a nice haul of flatties, sounds like an easy relaxing day that was well spent cheers, JB

    Next Level

That's an amazing set up, most raiders would give anything to get into that boat mate She will bring you more fun, and hopefuly fish, than ever before. If you ever need a deckhand I will volunteer myself mate Cheers, JB
  21. haha well done mate great haul there, leave some for the rest of us though! Cheers, JB
  22. Thanks guys this is all greatly appreciated From what i have read i am assuming that because i am a fairly low budget, i will invest my money into a better jig such as the yamashita or yozuri. I thinik I'll get the 2.5 size as it is a middle-of-the-road size, big enough for larger squid but small enough for kingy candy. I'm thinking either a gold or natural sort of colour?? Thanks again guys, JB
  23. That's a great haul mate, would have been fun on the light gear too.. well done . Cheers JB The gear I used today
  24. thats crazy guys i know people have said it but you really have balls of steel bringing that shark into the boat haha. well done guys great read, what did you do with all that mako shark? cheers, JB
