  1. The weather has been great there up till now. Drop me a PM and we can discuss options.
  2. Well done on the Bream and Lizards. Great to know they are about so soon after the big wet.
  3. Great to see you back,. I always look forward to your post. Appreciated Geoff
  4. Dave and Amy, Just so wonderful, you can't beat love. Honeymoon destinations? Will it be Cod or Bream or Barra? I am just so happy. Geoff and Evi
  5. Good on you Dave and Amy for getting out there. Tough conditions and great to get some fish. It is a great place. I have been into " the slider", just below the dam, many years ago.
  6. Dave, Well done looks lie a great trip. Geoff
  7. well done. Great to hear they are around, we just need some conditions to get to them Thanks for the report Geoff
  8. Thanks for your comments. No fish were harmed in the making of this expedition. The small fish up to days 15 inches are very good. Larger fish don't have much taste and are better smoked.
  9. Stream fishing in the snowies has been fantastic this season. All of the streams we have fished have produced wonderful fishing. These include remote back country locations as well as readily accessible areas. The last 2 seasons have seen very little fishing pressure due to bush fires and lockdown restrictions. The season was a late starter due to high river levels. The stocking of the streams has continued in earnest resulting in the best fishing seen in the last 10 years. Our fishing horizons have been expanded dramatically with the introduction of e-bikes. These have turned 10-15 kms hikes, requiring 3 days and hard slog, into pleasant ½ day excursions. It now has made the most remote areas that previously seemed impossible to access into very pleasant trips. We have added bike packing ability and now stay overnight in huts if we can and camp if we can’t. The e-bikes and bike packing are as much fun as the fishing. The locations available are outstanding. High country meadow streams are just a delight to fish. This is small water and the fish come readily to small dries. Caddis pupa and emergers are the predominate insect. The fish are not widespread and you often have to try different areas to locate the fish. These are feisty fish up to 12 and 14 inches. Some of the smallest creeks are providing the most action. The readily accessible rivers are producing well. Fishing pressure is growing in the well-known spots but it is not difficult to locate areas that receive little attention. Here the fish are often in the 2 to 3 lb range and very fit and healthy. With the e-bikes we have been able to access some back country gorge areas. This is tough country to access and e-bikes only get you so far. The fish numbers are low, I expect due to the heavy floods having reduced the numbers dramatically. There are some very big fish to be had for those who want to put in the big effort required. I was staggered to come across a 69cm brown. Thanks for reading, Geoff and Evi
  10. That is just a wonderful story about the Eagle. He was doing it tough, just so special. I have often thought to build a relationship with the sea eagles I see, and can come in contact with. Thanks so much. Inspired, Geoff
  11. Great report Guys. These sort of reports keep you inspired through the tough times, whatever the cause. Appreciated, Geoff

    Gurnard

I don't care about the boat, the Gurnard is amazing. I know they are in NZ. Just sensational. Thanks so much, Centrepin
  13. I'm with Dave on holding Bass. I did that at about the same age and still have the mental scars. Well done and welcome to our world.
  14. Well done on a great story and a great fish. I can relate to you struggling and applaud you for tenacity. Sounds like it was all worth it.
  15. We recently went on an Estuary charter in Port Macquarie over 2 consecutive days. Day 1 was very lean and we were a bit despondent after that first day. The second day was exactly the opposite. The bream came out to play. We used stick baits on 1/6 oz jig-heads bumping along rock walls. There was plenty of bream action with fish up to 39cm. A few good flatties also came out to play with the best going 65cm. Tailor and smaller flatties provided us with a feed. We were impressed with professionalism and hard work Mark put in to get us onto fish. It is just amazing the difference a day makes. We enjoyed ourselves very much and will be back. Many thanks to Mark at Castaway Charters ( admin approved) for a great experience
  16. Bruce, Great to hear the weed got put to good use and good to hear you got amongst them this year. Geoff
  17. Welcome to Fishraider and boy you are keen. I have once camped in the upper Tooma mid April, never again. The fishing was poor then and the coldest I have ever been. I did fish it this March and there was an absence of rainbows. A few big browns but these were scattered and not consistent. Really strange as it was always full of rainbows. I was interested to have a look at the gravel beds below the gauging station in spawning time but never got enough momentum. Please keep in touch if you go. Geoff
  18. Well done and nice photo. We fished Brisbane Waters last Thursday for many small fish but enough good ones to keep us interested. Finished with 10 30-36, we should compare notes. Likewise last winter was scarce, except for 1 spot. Geoff
  19. Great read and photos as always. Thanks again Geoff
  20. Great to hear back in action after the floods. Good to hear bream are about.
  21. Dave, I can only echo the others. Great report and photos as always. Appreciated, Geoff
  22. Bruce, Thanks for the report and well done on PB on Fly. We head up that way in July August to escape the Sothern Highlands winter and chase Luderick. I would love to give the Flatties a go and chasing them on the flats is exciting. Do they still fish OK in the winter? Thanks again, Geoff
  23. Great report. keep it up. Thanks for posting
