    Forgot the rods

Great, As usual Thank you. Howard.
  3. I use an FG knot and a blood knot. I use fluro for it's abrasion resistance from 4 lb to 40 lb. With my finesse fishing I use expensive fluro, Ocea is good. Off the beach I use cheaper Black Magic. I also run a bite leader on my light line when targeting Flathead, which is most of the time, and Jew. 4 lb or 6 lb leader for casting and 20 c/m of 12 lb between it and the lure. Very effective. I wet my knots well with saliva, and test them all! If the knot pulls up smoothly, it's a good one, if for any reason it is jerky, It's probably weaker! Recently I had Ocea 15 lb leader " shatter " after a vigorous cast. went to 20, no problem. Mono is my choice this summer for that reason. I want the reduced resistance in the surf from the smaller diameter. JD do you feel that Fluro is more abrasion resistant? Howard. PS 12 lb seems not to wear at all on the Flat Head, never seem to need to re tie due to fraying, might try 10? am I game to go to 8 ? Probably not!!! Caught about 14 on Monday, 3 in their mid 50's Lots around 34 c/m most on Zman curly tail in Motoroil. 4 and 6 lb braid. Best jew I have caught, last year, on this gear was high 80's, 88 I think? Keep your rods bent!
  4. I have a Suzuki 15, and it is a pre mix at 100/1. Haven't had an issue. ?????????? Howard.
  5. Brilliant. I have been married for 33 years, our first "date" was fishing, and we still do it!!!!! Howard.
  6. I have owned a lot of reels over the last 50 years, boy are they good today compared to 30 years ago. Your all spoilt !!!!!!!!!! I am now using a mix of Daiwa and Shimano. The Aegis is superb, and so is the new Stradic hk ci4+. They are $300 reels. I find a big difference between these and the $200 , and a huge difference to the $100. But a $ 600 reel is only a little better. Depends on wether you want to feel good about using an expensive reel, and be aware of the difference, or forget it and fish. I swap between a $350 reel and an $89 reel each outing, and am not aware of the difference. All I remember is how nice the both feel and the fish I catch. One of my favourite outfits is a 1 to 3 kg Shakespeare Slingshot 7 foot rod, with a Daiwa Revos MX 2000 reel. Both rod and reel around $80 Each. When I think about it the Aegis and Stradic do feel nice! And yes they will last longer. Howard .
  7. Very, Very good. We have enjoyed your posts of the girls photos. They deserve it. They are good!!! Howard.
  8. I use 3 inch Gulp Swimming Mullet for Bream as one of My go to lures along the break wall. Very similar to the grub. Some times go down to a 2 1/2 inch if missing a few, but the ones I miss often turn out to be Whiting. Howard.
  9. TOP Bait, Well there are two.... Beach Worm and Pilchard. Beach Worm Is Great on Salmon Bream Whiting Dart Etc. Pilchard on a 4 hook rig, or a fillet on a single hook for Taylor Bream Flathead. There are many more GOOD baits. But these are My two Best off the BEACH. Howard.

  17. Samaki Viblicious falk tail 100 m/m in Whitebait. Howard . But must have scent applied, I like Sax Scent Crab.
  18. Wilson RLF 45/2 medium live fibre 13'6" for the beach. Very light. Shimano Starlo clasic 10' 6" for spinning up to 90 gram.nice and stiff to impair action to lures especially soft Vibes ( 20 and 30 gram Viblicious.) Stamped 6 to 10 kg On the rod, advertised as 6 to 8 kg ?? Spent a lot of time thinning it down to these 2 rods for spinning reels ( ultegra 5500ci4+ ) I also use 2 fmt 7144l wilson/butterworth alvey rods. Howard.
  19. As Jon said, they take a bit to prepare but I love them. Howard
  20. As far as soft vibes go I use Viblicous 20 gram thumper or twin tail. Jew like them too. Howard.
  21. As far as lure selection goes, please dont forget soft vibes, you can do so mucn more with them in the surf, they fish the bottom half of the water colum very effectively. Howard.
  22. I have been using Inox for years, I used it on my Yabby Pump, The washers swelled up and I nearly had a Heart Attack pumping half a dozen Yabbies !!!!!!! Replaced them and they were almost half the size again of the originals!!! Howard.
