  1. Heeeelllloooooo raiders from Copenhagen! If you hadn't guessed it, I am currently travelling around Europe and have a little spare time to write up a report of recent fishing trips (lucky enough to get the nod from the girlfriend to be able to) First couple of sessions in Stockholm resulted in small fish but taught me the one, I wasn't going to catch my desired pike and two that I should be using plastics! It was the third session that was the all important one which probably would have been the hottest bite I have ever experienced, I lost count of the fish I caught so I kept counting the casts I didn't catch fish on (for those counting score at home it was 11 in 2 hours) First lure choice was the good old squidgy wriggler in..... That's right bloodworm. It was working so well that when a fish took it too deep to recover I was shattered. The next lure choice I had was a squidgy fish bass pimped to swim better and be a bit smaller, this seemed to be the right choice as it had started to result in some bigger fish. By this stage I also had a one man audience who was just fascinated in what I was using and what I was doing to get sooooo many fish! Unfortunately he spoke very little English (still didn't seem to be a barrier when I caught a larger or small fish) In this time he was watching I don't think I had one cast that I didn't get a fish. I even caught a few 30+cm fish which I was stocked with as they have a good account for them selves compared to the hand sized fish I was catching. By the time he had to move on I gave him my last unrigged squidgy and kept fishing. Still catching plenty of fish to leave them biting at 8am Here's a few pics of the fish I caught. Cheers stu
  2. Well done on Lucas and your patients with getting him some fish grant! That 39cm girl is a horse, can only imagine the curry she would have given Lucas. Cheers stu
  3. This is always a hard one to narrow down for me cause each lure has a place that does become area specific.... But if I was to go one one of each I would go: bassman Carl compact spinnerbait HB: mega bass siglett for top water, jackall tn50, mega bass griffon and similar fat bodies bream divers. SP: sliders, zman grubz and gulp minnow grubs.
  4. Personally for those fish (even getting a jew as bycatch) i would be looking at a rod around 2-4kg or 4-8lb at 7ft length (rod comes down to personal opinion i feel) but match it up too a 2500 shimano stradic if its within your budget. Spool the reel up with 6lb braid and get yourself some 6lb and 10lb flurocarbon leader. It does become a pricey initial out lay but a good combo will make learning the art of luring far more pleasurable and wont seem too bad on the pocket after you work start getting the results. Also start looking through the saltwater lure section of fish raider to get an idea of what lures you should be using and areas you should be targeting.
  5. have a look at the Australian Yellow belly championships or BETS Bass (even though the close to home rounds are over)
  6. These reports are great to read jani! Love seeing all these foreign (to Australia) fish and it is jut getting me more and more excited for my trip to Sweden in just over a week!
  7. nice fish on the new rig. you have 3 things in those photos that i always have with me, My beloved vamp (same as yours if its the 7ft), zman grubs and powerpro braid..... I am now scared for the fish at your local!
  8. superb trout! big fish with beautiful colours, cant get any better.
  9. Sounds like you had a ball in the yak steve, nice blackies as well
  10. 2500 daiwa sol if you want the line capacity! they are a beautiful reel. I have both the reels grant mentioned and love em to bits but sol is the winner for me!
  11. Nice work tom! some nice bream and other bits and pieces..... also im sure you were half tempted with those kings..... would have certainly gone on a nice ride! With those Zmans because they stretch so much the bass guys find when they are deep plastics fishing that the bass will bite and hold onto the tail, because they have so much stretch you can feel the weight and fish fight then nothing as they let go of it. try rigging a stinger hook next time, even if it is squid you might be able to land a few for dinner
  12. Haven't used one but should be alright, right size and shape. Slow roll around structure should see you getting a few, warmer months would be the best time to test it though.
  13. Well done ray! What looks to have been an amazing trip! I'm sure you would have been sore and battered after hauling in some of those beasts, only to be rewarded with the sea food feed one of the nights.
  14. Happy birthday Roberta! Hope all the healing and rehab is goin well and you are able to pick up the rod and harass those foster fish reel soon.

  19. Oh, that will spoil yourself. i played with a stella today....... WOW, if i could afford one i would have it by now haha
  20. Yea I only just learnt after loosing a few fish in a row in a comp...... some would say learning the hard way! Personally Im looking at the Generation Black Drunknmonkey, a mate just bought it and its amazing..... match it with a 1000 Ci4 I am thinking
  21. Thanks for that Tom just wondering as my search for a new combo gets nearer. I know what you mean though about light lining fish, I'm just stubborn when it comes to being beat by fish
