  1. Cheers mate! Plan is for some Zander and northern pike in Denmark and Sweden! So will definitely have the surface lures out, some plastics and the spinnerbaits!
  2. well done! thats a nice brown trout! gotta love the colours in them
  3. Solid EP mate, she would have put up a good battle i can imagine! hopefully thats one of many more to come!
  4. Thanks for the replies guys, bit late to see it for some sorry! Hope you got some fishing in before the season ended StephenW Dean01, there's a few other reports from this season on here if you havent seen them already Jew Stalker; curl up in a ball and cry my self to sleep haha! Nah I will be hitting the dams in the hunter, tackling the salt, Trip to europe for a month (will slip in some fishing time there) and doing anything to distract me from the fact its not the time of year for surface lures
  5. well done mate, thats a monster fish. Would have had you cheering all day..... bet the smile is still there actually
  6. Some of us have a hard life eh ray! Haha have a grea trip and can't wait for this report.
  7. Look at a samaki vamp in that size. I love mine to bits!
  8. Well done mate, love the fly caught salties. If you follow starlo on Facebook he has been having some good success on the fly in the salt aswell
  9. Quality bass mate, any around that 40cm go hard! i wouldnt be too disappointed on the trout with a fish like that (then again i am a little biased towards bass)
  10. a 34 or 44lb electric should be plenty for you.
  11. Nice work mate, some nice fish there. I would be kicking my self about those flathead as well! Like the genius behind the JDLBPCM, very similar to what the bass pros do in the states called (i think) long lining. Where they cast a crank bait behind the boat, put the reel in free spool, and use the electric to move the boat 100ft away and crank the lure back getting it down deeper than it would on a standard cast and retrieve, hitting deeper schooled or sulking fish.
  12. Very happy with the bag limits proposed to change! Especially the Murray cod size restrictions
  13. This is a hard one as I have been lucky enough too see some amazing things and fish in some great places. I would probably go with fishing over Christmas 2009-2010 where I caught my first trout, a 60+cm rainbow from NZ, came back to Australia and went straight up to the family in mackay where dad experienced some awesome barra fishing in teembarra dam with fish up to 93cm, catching a 40cm sooty grunter. Then on the way home stopping off at monduran dam landing dads PB barra of 109cm and then catching my PB of 95cm in the last hours of our trip! Finishing with bass at lake St Clair. Honorable mentions go to: -55.5cm bass on surface (once again at mondy) - netting a 116cm barra and learning the ropes from one of the countries best competition barra anglers - first bass caught on lure - catching my first Australian salmon -catching my first and only mangrove jack
  14. Dreadful news Roberta I can only imagine how devastated you are! Hoping your shoulder heals up quickly from now so you can get back to flicking in the yak for Forster bream! My fingers are crossed for next years wilderness island adventure for you, and I will be waiting for that awesome report to come!!
  15. Pmak nice yellas there, looks like the range of lures worked especially the old classics. Sounds like a bit of a bitter sweet trip though, still beats the hustle and bustle of Sydney though!
  16. Well done ray!! That's an awesome effort of 15th, very unfortunate about the big barra denying you of it's capture. The boat looks awesome, nice and neat and well finished.
  17. Well done mate gotta love big barra and big theadies! Looking forward to watching the video after work today!
  18. Cheers hodgey! Will be fishing slow and hard, I will also be trying a bigger barra swim bait that looks like a baby yellow or carp which I think will work if not some bassman spinnerbaits should do the trick. I hope me and my mate both get our firsts (including early morning surface!) Kingfisher, looks like I will be going for a walk with rod in hand!!
  19. Thanks for the replies raiders. Crappy weather but good result, makes the weather disappear mentally... Also helps having good rain gear. We didn't really get far up at all not nearly as far as I wanted, I was hoping for the bass and black bream to be around.
  20. Well done on the bream, gotta love those chubbys and the prawn dogs! Great tips with working the lure aswell.
  21. Awesome report AND awesome fish!! That black bream is an absolute horse.
  22. The ABT has just visited ST Clair and it was a tough bite (check out australianbass.com.au for results) ST Clair this time of year I would start by sounding around points and looking for a common depth the fish are at. From that slow rolling 1.5-2 inch slider style soft plastics on 1/8-1/4oz jig heads and a size 2 hook. 4lb braid and 6lb leader through schooled fish or cast at the weed banks and rolled back to the boat keeping in contact with the bottom. Smaller blades will also work in this area with a hop/roll retrieve. If fish are in 30ft+ sitting low in the water column holding above these fish and drop a grub style soft plastic (zmans and gulp minnow grubs are favourites) to the fish watching the sounder the whole time and as slowly as the lure wriggles bring it through the fish (as seen on sounder) and be patient waiting for the rod to load up (don't strike!) and keep winding, drop back down and repeat! Hope this helps good luck on your trip and look forward to your report. Cheers stuart
  23. Yes Raiders as the name suggests I was one of the fools who went out on the water yesterday, while the rest of sydney was in bed... I can tell you, yes it rained (hard), yes it was windy and yes, it was chilly, but despite all this we went out to catch some fish! The session started with putting on rain jackets and moving over to our first spot fishing the base if a waterfall and sight casting at bream (however they were small) only to have some hits. It took until 8 and bucketing rain for the first fish to come on board which was a nice VERY fat 29cm taken on a crank bait from the front of a rock in the current The next fish came 30 minutes (and even more rain) later which was my mate toms first EP of 26cm, also caught of the front of a rock in current. After the wind decided it had enough of us heading up stream in the punt we made our way back, where tom caught a 40cm flatty and i dropped 2 EP boat side. Overall we were very happy with the results, especially considering the weather and we couldnt reach prime positions! Nothing makes you feel accomplished when this happens. Hope all the raiders were nice and warm yesterday (unlike us fools) and enjoys todays gorgeous weather! Cheers Stuart (PS Cod fishing next weekend so look for the report of my (hopefully) first one!)
