  1. Hi Richard, Went last Sunday afternoon/dusk, not many around and only ended up with one. I have been throwing the plastics for jews and having good success right on the bottom of the tide. Hopefully they hang around for a while. Still keen to catch up and fish the Hacking with you. lets organise a date soon. Stew.
  2. Hit the bridge again last night for a quick session on the end of the run out tide. Put out the usual squid baits while i threw some plastics around. Ended up with 3 flatties around 40cm and one jew to 48cm all caught on a mixture of 5 inch & 7 inch Gulp jerk shads in either the camo or nuclear chichen colour. Also another jew to 52cm on fresh squid. All fish last night were released to fight another day. The bridge has been productive over the last month with an average of 2 jews per trip with just about all of them caught on SP's. Squidy
  3. Hey Damo, Did you fish Friday? We went out to Browns and found it to be vey quiet. trolled SSE in the mornig, found a long liner 7nm from the mountain beginning to pick up his set line which was set due south. Saw him pull aboard one good size fish. Had no luck and returned to the mountain. Cubed for several hours on a NE to SW drift. Left at 2.00pm as i had to go to work last night. If you found the tuna that were around the previous day what time did they come on the bite? Cheers and good luck for the season. Stewart
  4. Hi Alan, You can only hope for so much karma and i wasn't going to throw that one back. Spoke to Richard after he put you on to your Jew and he said it was a good fish. Jay, Your turn will come, next time the reel screams it yours. Stew.
  5. Had the boat in just after 4am to fish the end of the run out tide, surprising we were the only boat out. Set up an array of baits;- whole fresh squid, fillets of mullet and slimies. With not much happening i said to my mate Jay that I might as well throw a soft plastic around. Not long after I felt a soft touch and struck, a few head shakes later on board comes a nice 55cm jew. Quick debate about wheather to keep him or let him go and the decision is made to let him grow a bit more. As I let him go I said to Jay that karma will come to those who let the smaller ones live. Three casts later and a solid thump hits the same plastic with the reel playing that tune we all love to hear, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. After a nice fight Jay was ready with the net and aboard come a nice 80cm jew. rest of the morning was quiet as there was too much boat traffic heading out into the bay for the day. Mr Squid
  6. Nice fish there. Good to see you and Richard having success. Richard i was hoping to catch up with you last Thursday night. Got a couple of squid. PM me sometime this week and lets hook up for a session together. I'm sure there are more Jew to be caught. Stewart AKA Mr squid
  7. Fished Wednesday also out of Botany. Water was blue in close temp 23.2, however by the time we hit the FAD the water had turned green, temp was 22. Only small dolphin fish taking both livies and half pillies. No sign of birds anywhere and nothing at the peak. Action was way to slow for such a good weather day. Squidy
  8. The pros often fish with 2 downlines. They drop the first up current of the peak and let the current take it past the peak. After a while they repeat the process with the second drop line. Once the second has been dropped the y go and collect the first and then reset at the original drop position. it's just a continous circle for them all the time using live baits. When fishing try and get in between the two drop lines using live baits. As your boat will drift faster and be affected by the wind leave the engine running often in revesve. Takes practice but will get results once you have worked it out. Goodluck. Squidy
  9. Well done Dale, we fished the bait station off Longreef for a big fat zero. No dollies arond the fads, not even a stripey to turn a reel on. water temp was 24.8. No sign of bait and the birds were few and far between. Squidy
  10. Well done Maddy, you can come with me on my boat and show me how its done. I think Jess & Toby will be jealous. Stewart
  11. Hi Dave, As Roberta said i would try the southern end of Elizabeth beach of the rocks. Park the car and walk in until your out the very front of the point. It takes a while to get there. I would go for a walk to check it out during the day so you can work it out. Quite a lot of good size jew come from this area. Another spot is the Tuncurry side break wall. Fish the river side on the last hour of the runout tide. Look for the eddies after the last bend of the breakwall where the channel marker is, not too far out from the wall (20 meters max). Live bait or plastics for jew. You will lose some rigs so have some pre made. For live bait herring, tailor, yellow tail or pike. Catch your bait either at the break wall or under the bridge at night and take it with you. My biggest Jew of 18kg was caught on live Pike from the breakwall a few years ago. Look for scales on the ground to see if anyone has had any luck. You will need a gaff as some very big Jew come from here. Good luck and lets us know how you go. Stewart AKA Mr Squid
  12. Hi Guys, Went out wide off the Long Reef FAD last Sunday. Came across a small marlin sun baking on the surface at the 120m mark. Not sure who was more surprised - us or the marlin. Slightly further north came across a hugh school of dolphins that were working some bait. The bait and dolphins were being shadowed by several large bronze whalers, one which was very happy to take a bait. Had fun for the next 30 minutes with a good 6 - 8 foot toothie, which we eventually lost just under the boat. Squidy
  13. Hi Vandal, Nice king there, have you been getting any big squid or just good bait size. Was the kingy caught around the Osbourne Shoal? Squidy
  14. Hi Billseeker, Spoke with a local charter operator out of Cronulla who report that several small black marlin were caught of Stanwell Park early last week. Squidy
  15. Thanks Browndog, appreciated the info. Hopefully one day i will get the time to fish up your way. Good luck Squidy
  16. Hi Browndog, In what general area is blackdog reef as i have never heard of it before. Nice kingy by the way. Cheers Squidy
  17. Hi, I am after some info on the best place to catch slimies in Port Hacking. Any info would be helpful and i thought fishraider would be the place to start. Squidy
  18. Hi fishmaniac, Also fished the 12 mile on Sunday for a big fat zero. Went to Browns which was also slow, ended up with a few orange roughy but no Gem fish. Only saw 1 gem caught while we were there. Squidy
  19. Hi Mavo, Totally agree with the report on fishinf in Mexico. I have fished the Sea of Cortez several times and always found the fishinf amazing. Marlin, Yellowfin and if you lucky enough Rooster fish. Always great fishing. Glad you had a great time. Can't wait till i can get back for some more action. Squidy
  20. Hey mrsswordfisherman, Could you please send me the charter details also as i am heading to Bali in two weeks time. Regards Squidy
  21. Hi Elite, Saw you out there last Sunday (you wee anchored up) i was in the blue cuddy cabin. Likewise no luck on the snapper, ended up going for flathead in about 40meters of water and got 7 in about an hour. How good was the weather, only if the conditions were that good all the time. Squidy
  22. Hi Andrew, I am crrently using the Penn 620 (I think) downrigger. It has an upright spool has a choice of two boom lengths and also a rotating base so it can be fished out the back or to the side of the boat depending on conditions. Hope this helps. Squidy
  23. Nice fish Prawnstar, drove past you last Sunday. Also picked up a few kings arond the 70cm mark, some big bonito's and my first Sampson fish. The sampson was arond the 55cm mark. I thought kings pulled hard but that sampson put up the best fight for a fish of that size. Can't wait to I tangle with another sampson. Sqidy
  24. Hi Brettmann, As you said great size for eating. In regards to your bucket list you mentiones IR, where's that if you don't mind me asking. Squidy
  25. Hi Rob, How much line does you bike reel hold? looks interesting. Squidy
