  1. Hat way the double uni won't affect casting. The Albright I feel is not as reliable.
  2. I find only 6 twists on the fluoro or mono is more than enough and about 12 twists with the braid is good when doing the double uni. It tends to be the mono that fouls on the guide so try to make the mono side of the uni knot small by giving it less twists. This is for 30 to 40 pound mono. Any thicker and you will def need bigger guides. Cheers Andrew Sorry. I forgot to say the double uni is very safe. A fishing guide in cape York used it and he helped me catch some good barra, queenies and trevally with no failures. The trick I suppose is the rod tip guide size to the size of the leader. The key is to have the right rod size for the line and the guides on the rod will suit.
  3. Hi guys. I am just curious I'd I should be anchoring or drifting fishing around the markers and buoys in the harbour. I am fishing about 2 metres off the bottom with live squid chasing kingies. Any help would be appreciated
  4. Thanks for that. Will give it a go.
  5. I found a spit to get nippers in jerusalem bay on cowan river but it's a little too far to go when I fish in Sydneyas I live in parramatta. I hear that the georges river is good. If any one wouldn't mind helping me out on a good spot for squirt worms and nippers it would be much appreciated as you would save me travelling far or searching flats to find them. Any help would be greatly appreciated even if it's telling me a good shop to buy them. Thanks Andrew
  6. I have caught them on live nippers, tiny crabs and my favourite pippis. But it depends on where you are fishing. You have to use what is in there environment. In estuaries live nippers get the big ones and stop the pickers. I even have a mate that catches them on soft plastics as a by-catch causing bream and flathead.
  7. I would also appreciate it if I followed another boat in my boat to help learn a thing or two
  8. I have been reading all the stuff everyone posts on this site for a couple of months now and all the info I have been reading has been really helpful but still not catching good fish. I have owned a boat for 3 months now and wanted some help from an exp fisherman who wants to give a hacker a few lessons. If anyone is keen to come out fishing who can help with some tips I will supply all that is needed. Thanks. My email is andreweurokitchen@bigpond.com.
  9. Caught 7 flatties 45cm plus and about 4 in the 40 cm range. Had 4 big hits with yakkas. On both the bottom and up top with a float. Seemed to be plenty around on new years day so forget about the myth of the fire works scaring them off for the next day. Caught 1 rat but was only 51 cm. Seemed like there was a bit around so get out there while the moon is full.
  10. I am probably going to fish east of the harbour bridge anyway. Thanks
  11. launching at ermington bay and fishing for flathead, bream and one or two rods for kingys and jewies. I prefer to cruise up the river rather than drive to Sydney as it's more scenic. Thanks slinky for the reply.
  12. I went out yesterday on a friends boat on sydney harbour. Left from rude went straight to north head area to catch yakkas. Plenty there. Went to lighthousejust outside south head in 40m of water and caught ok sized flathead and nanygui. Swell picked up to 2.5m and wind picked up to 25 knots by 10am. Trilled back to Clarke island for a while catching 2 bonito about 40cm. Then fished around Clarke island. One bonito, small snapper and one decent bream and one 38cm flathead. Then o e bonito same size then others. Then one hit which lasted all of 30 seconds which snapped my 30 pound leader. No rain. Lots of medium wind and no bird action. Lots of small to medium fish.
  13. Hi, this is my first topic . Very new to the boating scene. Just bought myself a half cabin 15 footer and have been telling the family I am a good fisherman . I am planning to take my father in law and brother in law on friday the 1st at about 4pm as it is full moon that night and also want to fish around the change of tides which is a high around 8.30 pm. I know where to catch yakkas for sure but no idea for squid and poddy mullet which is what i really like to fish with. I also am unsure of where to fish so if anyone there who is experienced and wishes to help I would much appreciate the help in making me look like I might know what I am doing. Thanks. Will also post my results.
