  1. Keep on trying and they will come. I fish for bream also while fishing for Jews. Need to pass time while waiting. They can also pretty much hook themselves too. They don't nibble they normally just grab it and run anyway. Nice bream too. Cheers Andrew.
  2. Watch all the pros on the AFC. They all use braid when they are using sp's. I think that they do it more than anyone so I would copy them. Cheers Andrew.
  3. Try the iron cove. Fish the flats of Henley marine drive for bream whiting and flathead. You can walk all along that section and cast out about 10 metres. It is only about 30 cm deep at first but it drops to 3 metresout a bit. Try to leave your bait somewhere near where it's start to rise back up to 30cm and use prawns. Try to get fresh hawkesbury ones as the fish like them there. Dusk on a rising to near high tide is good. And so is the ladies jogging by on the bay run!
  4. G'day all. Last week I went out to colours. When I got there with a bunch of yakkas on tne tank, I saw something on the bottom on the sounder. Thought it may be some small snapper so I dropped a livie and started to set up a paternosta. Then bang within in a minute I was on to a Samson. I was 50cm. Then dropped another and then the same thing except this one went 64cm. After another hour there was nothing. I ate one and it was real nice. So now I want to find some more but these fish are not what you would call one I am familiar with. It was about 9 am in the morning to. If anyone could give me some info that would be great. Such as if they are seasonal (are only around certain times of year) come in the harbourat all and what ever u can add. They fight well also. That day was a good one too as we were cleaning the fish anchored up at Clarke island and caught a flattie 76cm. It was the biggest one I have seen and took some photos on my phone and let it go after some high fives. Would post pic but sadly don't know how to get it from my phone to this page. Cheers Andrew
  5. I have been searching for the deepest part of Sydney harbour as I have been fishing and have found that between georges head and Clifton gardens that is the deepest part. If anyone knows of a deeper spot and wants to tell that would be nice. Thanks Andrew.
  6. Go early morning and look for surface activity. Another month and the salmon will be in numbers. Look for surface activity and use a metal lure and if you find the salmon on the surface you will catch them. Don't get too close or you will spook them. Keep your distance. As for kingfish try a drift around middle head with a live yakka. There are still some around but slowly thinning out. If sporting is what your after I suggest 2 to 4 kg rods, 2000 series reels and 6lb line around shark island after burleying and hold on to the bream and trevally , flathead, frigates and small snapper about. They will put up a fight and all you need for bait is a block of WA pillies. But as fishing goes that's no gaurantee!
  7. Long life ahead. 4 u and the kids. As time passes it will be easier and remember there are Plenty of fish in the sea! Get yorself out there not only with the kids but another fisher woman. Sure helped me and congrats on the boat.
  8. Looks to me you had a very successful trip. I would be happy with that. Oh and hope you had fun cleaning all those it would have took ages!
  9. try quarantine bay on the south side of north head in the harbour. Seen some of the guides there catching a few beauties 2 weeks ago but I couldnt join in as i had no squid left by then. There is also a red marker there that can fire. Cheers Andrew.
  10. I have 2 shimano catanas and would buy them again for sure. They are great and has caught heaps of fish for me. They are closer to a hundred bucks to. Click on the go fish icon on the main page and it will take you to there web page where they have those rods with pics and prices. Cheers Andrew.
  11. FishingPort Jackson. Squidding real early, chasing kings and if no luck by about 10.30 try to get a feed of flatties outside south head then flick some lures for bream in the harbour. Try almost every day and hope to get lucky on one of them. Boring to stay home, but got to do it for my dad as he's sick. Still b fun!
  12. Mate, I reckon go the ecogear vibes. They have a larger size now and have good colours. One which is close to watermelon has been great. Flathead , bream, silver trevally and snapper have been liking them in Sydney harbour more than the gulp. Hoping for a big bicatch one day but no luck as of yet. Only down side is they are about 20 bucks. They have been working better for me and they don't stink later. Cheers Andrew
  13. That about sums up my trips with the father in law on the hawkesbury. Lucky he is a great guy as he is a big fish repellant. Especially on the HR. At Least u get along as most don't. I've been hitting syd harbour with mine and been doing ok. Good luck next time. Cheers Andrew
  14. Nice tape measure. The fat max is great. Obvious tape of a tradie. I know as I have few.
  15. i have spotters with a bronze lens and it cuts out the glare almost 100%. Love them and would buy them again
  16. nice. let us know if u catch em!!
  17. Nice catch. They were fat alright. Tried there 3 weeks ago for one keeper flatty. Would prefer your bream!
  18. I won't be fishing deep anyhow. Taking the out for valentines day so will fish shallows for bream etc. Very lucky I don't have to take her to a restaurant!!! Thanks again for the help.
  19. Thanks for the info. Low tide on sat is around 3 in the arvo so I should be right to get some. Had an Alvey bait pump for 5 years and will use it for the first time so wish me luck!
  20. Am going to pump some nippers at maianbar and was wondering if anyone would help me out by letting me know the latest time to pump them in the run up to high tide. Low tide on sat is around 1pm but I want to fish dusk onwards when the sun is close to going down so I don't turn into a beetroot. Thanks Andrew
  21. Idiots everywhere. I imagine they don't leave that mess in their loungeroom. They should just clean up after themselves like normal people before they ruin it for everyone. No doubt stupid politicians will outlaw fishing in these areas if nothing is done just like you can't take a camera to a beach because of two wankers. . Fine them and make it a good fine I reckon.
  22. Hi there. Just start off by thanking Jewgaffer. The bay was great. Plenty of fish around. Caught bream, whiting and flathead all on nippers. Between myself and my dad we must have caught 30 fish. Berley helped put them on the bite. Had a good hit on the squid only once but lost it after about twenty seconds, would have loved to pull that one up. It wasn't 10kg thumper or anything but it felt big enough for me. The squid I got was calamari squid (obviously bought frozen). I feel if I had fresh squid I might have got something else. Thanks again jewgaffer.
  23. Thanks for that jewgaffer. From all that I have read sounds like u are the number one man when it comes to fishing. Will def give it a go and post results.
  24. Wondering if anyone has some fishing ideas for tomorrow. Waited all week to fishing on Sunday and the weather looks like s#*t for tomorrow. Winds, swells and rain. Any ideas on some sheltered fishing? Happy to chase anything in my boat. Just want to get out the house. Thanks Andrew
