  1. Try the railway bridge and flint'n'steel for the Jewies... Up river towards Spencer is another great spot for Jew and Flatties, be prepared for bycatch though (catfish and pike eels are regulars in the Hawkesbury System and are a real pest) Good luck Anthony
  2. I am house sitting @ my sisters place in Bilgola over the next 3 weeks so I'll be going to heaps of beaches in between study time, so stay tuned I'll reply again when I am going out, likely next week and the week after. Cheers lads Anthony
  3. Lads, I have done a lot of surf fishing and I go nights ONLY, days are hard for me being a P/T student and full time Dad of 2 kids SO, if either of you wanna go I head out most weekends and during the week i fish the rivers I mostly fish Broken Bay but am happy to go to the Nth Beaches though. PM me I am going tomorrow night to Broken Bay- leaving Sydney by 3pm to get to my spot just before sunset as its a 90minute drive to where I go. Cheers Anthony
  4. Thats a STONKER Bream buddy! Well done Cheers Anthony
  5. BTW Zac, I am getting 10 bream HB lures tomorrow hopefully and I got rods and reels you can use if you like, + I got so many placcies I will most likely never use you can use them and keep what you need to keep ya going. We can also use bait (I find it works best for Bream personally) but whatever goes mate. PM me Anthony
  6. Hey Zac, You are ALWAYS welcome to come with me on Lane Cove and I can even collect you from your place... You just let me know when you are free, you know my details so send me a PM when you wanna go Breamin and I'll get ya onto some lane Cove Blue Nose now they just showed up. BTW- I lost your number can you PM it to me again and I'll organise a trip for us both, I got a few great spots that are very quiet and have some good fish when they are schooling up in the area. Chat soon mate Anthony
  7. Awesome Bream session mate, shame bout the Jewies... I still do exactly the same when I fish for Jewies, take my Bream rod and cast out unweighted slabs of slimey into the shallows and I seem to have a lot of fun, and isnt that what its all about- having fun... Sure its tops when the Jew are around but as you said you took the Bream gear to keep you occupied as there was the "feeling" it was going to be pretty slow... I think you made the right choice mate. I'd be waiting for the end of this week for the Jewies to show back up again, and with warmer weather this week the water temp might risw a degree or so... & keep an eye on the baro pressure jewies seem to like it well above 1015Hpa and rising... Tight lines
  8. NICE! BTW- I dig ya signature- very true ('cept for the last one- its supposed to be "good things come to thse who bait...") or was "good things come to those who wait"... Now I'm all confused, lol Tight lines
  9. Yer likely a Noah... Still was a mad battle cannot deny I still got a smile just for keeping it on for so long, lol
  10. Thanks Nathan, I suspect it was a Jew personally, sharks dont usually give those massive headshakes midway through the fight, more like just dead weight till they get in close then hell breaks loose- this broke loose from the get-go and didnt stop... headshake after headshake after running was a cracker fish whatever it was. ... I think my leader is just aweful so am going to buy some new leader today and hopefully next time I wont get pinged as easily, lol... The last 3 outings have hooked 5 Jew and landed a 1m school shark so am on a good spot to say the least, and I was real patient with him last night... he ran when he needed... I ran up and down the beach with him to keep tight line and while he was shaking that head of his I kept constant pressure on him and didnt high stick it. Luckily I had support from my mates too I reckon its essential to have good support when fighting big fish anywhere.
  11. Nice feed breambo- chicken strips are top bait. Tight lines
  12. Went with my mates Nathaniel and Clinton to Broken Bay see if there were any Jewies out to play and with a 1.8m high tide and 3 days after ful moon we expected to get a few decent fish on the sand. We fished from 5pm till midnight with yakka slabs, slimey slabs and squid. We get a couple of Taylor to 35cm and a bream that went 34cm between 5:30 and 6:45pm. I fished with a paternoster rig with 80lb mono trace with 2 X 4/0 suicide hooks and a size 4 snapper lead About 7:30 or 8:00pm my rod went for a howling run and it was on... After setting the hooks I settled in for a rather lengthy battle with a beast of a fish that went straight out to see then pulled a full 180 and came screaming back towards me. In my mind I figured he had spat the bait and I proceeded to wind in casually, then I pulled tight again and another screaming run with 5kg drag on the baitrunner and lots of big headshakes throughout the battle. He ran left and back right parallel to the beach but he was staying just in the gutter, he had 3 short and very powerful runs in an epic 25minute fight, but alas I was unable to beach him even with doubled 80lb mono and eventually got bitten off at the trace. We didnt see him but he fought hard in close and deserved his freedom in the end. At one stage I was certain I had him "in the bag" but every time he did something and surprized me... I was stepping left, right and into the shallows to try and get him from the gutter into the wash to beach him, but not meant to be this time, lol. I re-rigged back up and played the waiting game again- I had a very good take on a slab of slimey just before the top of the tide but nothing further was hooked. A thoroughly enjoyable night with a couple of good friends and brought home a feed but not the Jew I am after. Oh well there's always next weekend to try again from the same spot, and the weekend after that too! Sorry I didnt take any piccies this time Tight lines
  13. Nice soapie Jew mate Autumn and Winter are the best times to chase big Jew both in the rivers and also from the suds. Tight lines
  14. Shame they arent available anymore, lolz However, if you just want a "brag mat" then you can go to most decent tackle shops and get one (sure it wont have the FR guise on it) but if all you wanna do is show off ya fish on a mat then they are easily available and some places they are quite cheap...
  15. Nice work Bill, the suds have been putting on the goods up this way too... hopefully that continues over this weekend am off for a Jew bash in Broken Bay tomorrow arvo/night ... Good luck over the weekend mate Tight lines
  16. What rig were you using for the Groper DGF??? At least you got a Mack and a Bonnie from spinning- that was what you setup to do and you did it ... Shame bout the Groper though... They go pretty hard I havent caught one in years and years- maybe time to start rock hopping again and try my luck- I got a pretty good spot in Broken Bay I reckon the platform would be chockers with em- and its loaded with lovely red crabs too. Well done mate Tight lines
  17. Well done on the catch mate, Brissy Waters can produce good fish @ times and with the right bait. Some of the better spots are Davistown Wharf and any of the ferry wharves in the area, plus Gosford Rail Bridge is a good spot for Jew as is Woy Woy Rail bridge. Round past Point Frederick are good spots for Flatties, Bream and Whiting, while towards Woy Woy you got area like Koolewong. Tascott and Point Clare- near the Oyster leases my Uncle got Bream to 50cm and bagged out on Flatties to 60cm (all in the last week) he used Mullet slabs for bait and chicken fillets. Plenty of good spots up there, go find am and "reap the rewards". Tight lines
  18. Nice Flattie mate! Cabarita can be a great spot, have been pinged a few times there fishing for Bream... they know how to use the structure there I can assure you. Better luck next time budd... Tight lines
  19. Hi Bill, I too am a passionate Beach Fisho- I have been fishing Beaches for 25 years and the last 7 have been most weekends from Broken Bay Grew up fising Harrington/Crowdy Head with my Grandfather and my Dad was a good fisho, I now fish Broken Bay for Jewies, taylor, Salmon and Noah's I fish beaches to commemorate both of them (my dad passed away when I was 8 and my Grandfather when I was 17) Grandfather taught me to beach worm, catch pippies and how to read the surf and gutters - even though I was a surfie back in those days and I didnt care where I surfed or how dangerous it was. I dont fish the beaches often eneough its a long way to go from Lane Cove to Broken Bay to my fav spot, but last weekend was both my G'father and Fathers B'Days (16th and 17th April)- so I went back to their favourite past time and nailed a nice 1m School Shark, then got pinged on a big Jew that took about 200m of line in 2 blistering runs. Both were hooked on fresh slimey slabs on paternoster rigs and 30lb main line and 80lb trace. I am heading back there this weekend again as now its getting cooler the rivers are starting to shut down, I think I will forever go back to where it all started for me on the beaches, its in my blood to be a beach fisho and I never want to forget where I have come from... Tight lines all
  20. PK, I can teach you Beach Fishing from Broken Bay if you like. PM me if you are interested... I have over 25years Beach Fishign Experience and 7 years in Broken Bay and on the Central Coast. I fish for Jewies, Taylor, Salmon and Sharks all from Broken Bay and the Nthn Beaches. Am happy to also head around the Hawkesbury Area but I dont know it all that well. Cheers mate
  21. Mate any beach will get you sharks ATM- I get them round Broken Bay every outing almost while fishing for Jewies. I berley with slimey heads and any old frames and heads. I use slimey fillets or butterflied yakkas for bait- but I have caught them on whole pillies, beach worms and even prawns in the past. my PB school shark is 1.3m and just on 15kg- out up a good fight too! BTW- Fresh flake is YUMMO Good luck on the Noah fishing I will be out this weekend trying for some mre Jewie and Noah
  22. WOW! What a cracking report. Well done lads to going 3-2-2 on beakies off Sydney. Congrats James for getting your first- once the bug hits then there is no going back
  23. Woy Woy T-Wharf has a known hot spot for inkers mate It gets pretty crowded though esp in middle of summer- loads of people all chasing squid. Great spot for live yakkas aswell, if you cannot get an inker then just get live yakkas. Good luck
