  1. Thats a classic tale Nathan Awesome to hear you finally got your boat- the Jew will be overflowing in the ice box before you know it mate. take your time to learn the ropes there is no rush. ... After all... Everyone has to start somewhere... Good luck bith with the O'Seas trip and when you come back I am lookin forwards to a few great reports of your adventures.
  2. You are more likely to hook into School Sharks and Jew at the same place on the same night. Bull Sharks and Jew's DONT mix at all cause they both have simimilar feeding habits and feed on the same fodder. I was out Last saturday night and nailed a 12kg School Shark, next cast hooked and lost a 15kegger+ jew that ripped 250m of line in 2 squirts and gee it had some acceleration! and severed my 80lb leader with 3 mightly headshakes and that was the only way I could tell it was a Jew- sharks dont normally headshake from my experience in the suds Not the first time its happened either- but it shows the Jew are there and encouraging to see. Thanks for the insight on the Hammer's though- I never seen Jew and Hammers in co-habitation before... there is always a first for everything. Tight lines
  3. Craig, the "onion" is a piece of the gut section of the mullet. It sits in the upper section near the head and gills, you cannot mistake it when you gut a fresh Mullet. Like Peter said its tough as and very hard for any fish to take it off the hook. All the gut is TOP bait for BIG Flatties and Bream.
  4. Dont warry mate, neither do I... but I sure love it when I get a feed ... one cannot expect to take home fish all the time, lol I use Bread, prawns and pillies mostly, all unweighted, and berley with a mix of Weet-bix, bread and prawn heads and shells when I have them. Although nowadays I can consistently get a feed - 9/10 times I will get 3 or 4 keepers from around the same area as you fish already, but there are better spots around. Be persistent and try new spots on different tides- I have different low tide spots to high tide spots and I fish them accordingly. Keep the reports comin- I like hearing about the local stuff in my own backyard
  5. Good work breambo Nice feed there!
  6. Well done bluebottle. lane Cove is a great area- being my local I know the kind of fish it is capable of producing, I have fished it for the last 7 years on and off, but now it is my "true" local Never caught a LJ from the river though. I usually get Bream, Whiting, Flatties and Jew from my local spots. FYI- the swirls are usually the Mullet that are in the area or the Taylor/Choppers that chase them in the shallows
  7. Good Effort mate Which lure did the damage on the Bonnies? You salting the bonnies for Jew baits?
  8. HOLY CRAP! Man I am green with envy- now I wanna go for a Jew run ... lolz you must be STOKED!
  9. Top effort on the Blackies mate.
  10. Well done Johnny- and Josh! I still say nothing beats nailing decent fish in ya local area. Light line, big structure and shallow water makes for some very interesting fishing. Another great report mate.
  11. They got their just deserts if you ask me. Lets hope it serves as a message to others who think its cool to keep undersized fish and use illegal methods to catch them.
  12. Well done lads, at least you got a feed Johnny. Last time I was @ Narra I got loads of poddy's on sibiki rig and pillie chunks- they were going ballistic for the biat used a 2kg block of pillies in a few hours but we had caught nearly 60 poddies (most released and a few for livies) and heaps of under Bream which went real hard on 4lb gear. The bigger Bream were hanging around the rock ledge near the caravan park but got spooked very easily and not interested in any bait (live or dead) and turned up their noses @ poppers, pliccies, HB's - everything we threw @ them was rejected. Great live bait too- next time take a few and chuck em into the suds @ Nth Narra Beach, big Bream and Jewies LOVE live poddy's
  13. Nice work mc fishn! Fark me that squid is a monster- what a ripper! Top day all round mate you guys did extremely well for a few hours tight lines
  14. What an odd couple of fish on lures Well done mate
  15. That's GOLD! Luv to be able to do that during work time.
  16. Nice Sambo's Cam, sounds like you had loads of fun landing them on 4lb
  17. Agree with Hodgey completely the Bream in my local area (Lane Cove) are really shy of heavier leaders. I downgraded from 15 to 8lb and the hookup rate is 500% increase. ... I think going even lighter (to 6lb braid) will get even more. I use Bread and Chicken Pellets for berley and size 10 long shank hooks, bait I usually use squid or bread and pillies (all will get fish but some days they want pillies only and others they wil take anything), lol Most fish I am catching range from legal (25cm) all the way up to 40cm and they GO HARD esp as I am LB and most are caught within a few metres from the shore/bank/wharf wherever I fish. Good luck!
  18. ... stoked! Thats a haul of ooglies and pelagics
  19. ... Have to add you have beaten my PB by 1cm! Thats a different piccie to the one I have johnny. I havent booted up the laptop to get it... yet... Post it soon, just booting it up now...
  20. Top effort Johnny! Good lookin fish from the piccie you sent me last night, I will try and upload it later tonight on ya behalf OK. Monch, I hooked some good jew at my feet (less than 2m from shore) in Lane Cove over the last few weeks, all on light gear but getting dusted is a pain.
  21. That is one helluva Bluey! Cannot believe you bagged 27 in a session, WOW!
  22. Mate what a Croc! I agree looks MUCH bigger than 2.2kg. Happy days mate, what a stonker! tight lines
