  1. Thats an awsome capture i too have heard of some spotties in the harbour at the moment i have been trying for them the last two sessions without success but your report gives me hope.Well done
  2. Roberta was right on the money regarding your tip breaking, however it may not be entirely your fault sometimes you see people loading rods of the shelf in tackle shops inncorectly holding the rod between the tip and first runner instead of pinching the tip itself only and im sure plenty of these finnese style graphite sticks get fractured this way which might be the reason yours broke but try telling a rep this. When you pulled line through your tip was your rod in a vertical position and did the reel have drag preasure when you pulled pull the line through the tip if so unfortunately this is due to your negligence.Usually when a tip breaks it is very hard to claim it under warranty anyway hope you can convince them to replace it for you.
  3. I would highly recommend the STRADIC 6000 OR 8000 both have same size body the 8000 has a deeper spool .These reels are incredibly smooth and feel very robust and i reckon would last you the next ten years. For price $220 $245 if you shop around .
  4. Depending what brand mono your useing it can vary considerably between brands a good choice would be (moimoi) line which has a very thin diameter compared to other lines. In your case you could go for 6 kg for your baitcaster and still have the same diameter as 4 kg line,Other benefits with this mono line is its got bugger all memory meaning it does not come of the spool in springy coils which is exactly what you need for baitcaster reels. Thick springy lines on small baitcasters = BIRDSNESTS For leader material stick with flurocarbon you cant go wrong.
  5. THIS IS A TOPIC THAT HAS CONCERNED FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW IF YOU CONSIDER THE AMOUNT OF LEAD US FISHOS LOSE DUE TO SNAGS & BUSTOFFS & THOSE DREADED LEATHERJACKETS YOU HAVE TO STOP AND THINK WHAT IMPACT THIS IS HAVING ON THE SEABED.IM NO SCIENTIST BUT COMMON SENSE TELLS ME LEAD IS CORROSIVE AND WILL EVENTUALY BREAK DOWN AND MAKE ITS WAY INTO SEDIMENT ,AND INTO THE ROOT SYSTEM OF MANY LIVING PLANTS CONTAMINATING BOTH PRAWNS SQUID AND FISH THEN US HUMANS. I USE TO DO A FAIR BIT OF DISTANCE CASTING FOR SNAPPER OF THE ROCKS AND FELT GUILTY WHEN I WOULD LOSE UP TO 5 OR 6 SINKERS IN THE 3 TO 4 OUNCE RANGE,SO I GAVE THAT AWAY UNTILL I DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND AN ALTERNATIVE TO LEAD SINKERS ( ENVIROWEIGHTS WHICH CAME IN BALL,BEAN,SND SNAPPER SHAPES AND ARE MADE FROM IRON ORE)I ALSO FOUND ZINC SINKERS & ONES MADE FROM BISMUTH AND TIN. I JUST WANT TO ADD NO I DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY, I JUST MADE THE SWITCH TO ( LEAD FREE )SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE GIVEN ALOT MORE THOUGHT NEXT TIME YOU PURCHASE YOUR NEXT BATCH OF SINKERS. YOUR THOUGHTS APPRECIATED ON THIS TOPIC. CHEERS SPINMAN,

  9. G,Day Slinkymalinky, After reading your informative post and giving it some thought your absolutely correct in regards to the problem being in the line roller bearings.I tested all reels and none of them made any noise when the line was not connected so thankyou very much for rectifying that problem for me much appreciated ,I will now replace them with some aftermarket stainless ones as for the ABU reels i have the 7500 - 7000 - 6500 - 5600 - 1600c iar - 10000 -black max 3600 as you know they are top reels easy to work on and parts are cheap. Cheers Spinman,
  10. Has anybody else out there been experiencing a light to medium scraping sound comeing from within the rotor & spool of there Daiwa reels on retrieval .I own three Daiwa reels 1- Daiwa Emblem Pro 5500 2- Daiwa Capricorn 1500 3- Daiwa kastor 1500 And they all make that annoying sound,I also have a mate who owns a Daiwa HD 3500 and i know of others who are experiencing this problem i am close to switching over to Shimano as i have had a gut full. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHICH DAIWA REELS YOUR HAVING PROBLEMS WITH < I might also add all my fishing gear gets well looked after and has never been immersed in water or washed under running water just wiped over with a damp rag then a drop of oil on the usual areas.Any feedback appreciated on this matter.

  20. This type of set up in Australia is called the ned kelly rig and the only people i have seen practise this form of fishing in Australia is people of a Lebanese background they love to target BLACK TREVALLY under small floats and BREAM ETC.You could try some of the fishing shops run by Koreans in Sydney i am sure they could put you onto some connections for buying one of these poles your after good luck.
