Great report Pmak, looks like the boys really enjoyed the holiday. Great to see your FIL being converted to SP fishing and having immediate success
.
I love the spotlock function on my Minn Kota...makes life so much easier when you find a suitable location for fishing doesn't it.

Some nice fish there Hodgey, especially that wild river Bass and congrats for getting your relatives onto some quality fish.
What did the Bass fall too?
-
Awesome report Bassboy! You and your dad sure fish hard! Those bass look like small barra (or do the small barra look like big bass??)
So, after all those long hours fishing for barra, were those quick bass sessions at the end the highlight of the trip?
Hi PMAK,
You should have seen the smile on Bassboy's dial after the night session. The surface strikes by those big Bass were just awesome.....I am surprised he even slept. It was so good we went back the following morning for a quick sesh instead of departing for Sydney, it was worth it.
He was still talking about those Bass 1300km after we left Monduran.

Hi Raiders,
During my recent road trip to Monduran Dam in QLD I was frustrated by not having a suitable waterproof coverall for my boat. When I purchased my boat I also purchased a custom made coverall that was supposed to be suitable for towing the boat. I subsequently learnt from experience that this cover is not suitable for towing as it does not fit snuggly over the side console and the fabric had holes rubbed into it as it was flapping in the breeze. The coverall is now only suitable storage purposes.
I am looking for a manufacturer who can custom make a suitable waterproof coverall that will survive multiple road trips to the various Bass and Barra Dams. I would appreciate advice from anyone who may have had a similar cover fitted for their boat.
cheers,
Paul

You hit the pay dirt
.....my two favorite Sydney Basin fish and both caught in skinny water. Great report and thanks for sharing.

Great report Prawnstar, looks like it was an excellent way to celebrate your last days as a civvie. I wish you all the best at HMAS Cerberus. I am sure you will enjoy your time in the Navy after you complete your recruit training and I look forward to reading about your fishing exploits across the globe.

Hi Raiders - the wife and I are travelling to Las Vegas mid next month and I was wondering if anyone has fished Lake Mead? I have promised to go to a few shows with the wife on the proviso that I get a days guided fishing on Lake Mead to get myself a Striped Bass.
cheers, Basscatcher

Bad luck with the weather Grant, however those Togas would have certainly made the trip worth while.

I'm pretty lucky in that respect. If fact some would say blessed. I was thinking about selling the boat after I bought my yak. The minister talked me out it because the yak only has one seat and she likes to fish with me.
It's good to be the king
How lucky are you......my
endures my fishing obsession but won't even consider the option of a yak in addition to the boat despite my claims that yak trips would be shorter duration and keep me fit & healthy
Great to see the flatties are back on the chew, now just need some good weather on the weekends so I can target them.

Some excellent fish there and the long walk is obviously worth the effort.
PS You have done Nanook proud.....great read and thanks for sharing.
-
Great sesh Stewy....what can't you catch.
PS I reckon that pelican was just checking to see if that missle armed blackfish had been dealt with
-
Nice work pmak & sons.....great to see you out again and celebrating fathers day with the taste of success. This last winter has been the toughest for a couple of years and it is great to see that spring is back
and the fish biting again.
-
Great little session there Mako, I can't wait until the surface bite starts again. I have a couple of pink lures that have done nothing for me in the past.....they might get another chance shortly
-
Great fish mate - must have been fun on that light gear
.

Thanks for sharing Pete. I always find that the Wonnie fishes well during spring. That drop off looks like the hole under the power lines near Bonnet Bay, would I be correct? I have tried for Jewies in there a couple of times for no luck but have got a couple of nice flatties and bream on the sand bank and drains near the hole.
cheers,
Paul

Cheers mate thanks for the complements
The best thing about doing the comps is goin with my old man we dont take it too seriously we talk crap and if we catch fish its even better
But i still like the challenge
Cheers
Pete
Your conversations sound the same as Bassboy and mine......and the tougher the bite the more crap we talk

Awesome report fellas and that new UL tent looks incredible.
PS great fish too.
-
Very jealous of that cracker Bass session there fellas. I reckon the Bass are the best fighters especially for their size.
-
Great fish Nathan and congratulations on the new PB
. Those EPs are great fighters and excellent fun on light gear.
It has been a tough couple of weeks on the Georges and I have had a couple of donuts, although I didn't go out on the weekend. Hopefully the water warms up over the next couple of weeks, although the predicted rain will probably keep it cool
.

Now that is dedication Mitch....good onya mate and great to see the young fella onto a nice yella. cheers Paul
-
I would agree with iMick, especially during winter when the fish are generally a bit more timid.
-
Great effort Grant......you did much better than I did during my first Bass comp. I understand the sight of all those boats at the start line, it is very easy to get boat envy
.

Great post Tom and thanks for sharing your experience. Whilst the fishing was slow, at least the weather was fantastic and the scenery better than the view from my office. cheers Paul

I hope my next session at Towra is as slow as your sessions are Pete
. The trevs must have been good fun on light gear.
Looks like the water is slowly warming, I can't wait for it to warm up and the surface bite starts again.
