  2. Deffinatly give TUFFY (Russ) A call he has a 40HP 4s Honda He might be able to draw you a plan with a list of parts you will need. Or take it to an auto electritian SPARKY
  3. Yes you can do this depending on your outboard Most outboards are running on a magneto system and usually have A few auxiliary wires that are not being used (The manufactures do this So they only have to produce 1 wire harness to suit many different applications. E.g. Pull start, Electric start) however you MUST use a regulator as the Magneto will Put our around 17 amps and most if not all 12 volt equipment is only designed to take around 14 amps So if you don’t use a regulator you will blow up whatever you are trying to power. Lift the cover off your outboard and look for unused wires. Then while the engine is running Connect a test light to the wires to see weather they are live. Once you have established this You can mount a regulator onto your boar and run the wires from the motor to the regulator. Then from the regulator to whatever you wish to power. (Eg, sounder. lighter attachment, or a battery. If you have any more questions contact fellow raider TUFFY (Russell) He has set up his boat to power a 6 Volt motorbike battery and other instruments. Hopefully this helps Regards SPARKY

  6. Don't mean to be rude but take it to your mechanic I have 135 mercury that was doing the same thing and nearly ended on the rocks at north head. Booked it in the next day. I thought it was the plugs oiling up. Turns out the motor has some sort of thermostat that opens and Closes to allow the engine to operate at a certain temperature. This was not closing so the engine was not getting up to the rite temperature to operate efficiently, so at idle it would just stop and not want to start unless you throttled up. Turns out this part cost less than ten bucks (plus labour) to fix. I don't know what your boat is worth but mine is worth about $35 to $40K doesn’t take much to work out what the smart thing to do is dose it. SPARKY
  7. Great report as usual Kelvin And thanks for the tips for catching kingies However can u supply some tips on how and where to catch those dammmm Squid? I have tried several times and numerous spots for NADA. It’s obviously me, so have u got some pics of your Jigs and how to set them up. Sparky
  8. When I fish this spot I will always have a veriaty of bait. usually Fresh Squid, Prawns.(local seafood supplier) chicken gutt or Chicken breast or even some slimy if they have some. I am not a soft plastic fisho (to much work involved) so I dont know how they would go in this spot. I have found the best time is at dusk Sparky
  9. Paul I alway's have used a light leader paticually for brim as they spook easily so the less weight the better. If I'm fishong outside I use a heavier leader. However with all types of fishing I have found that the lighter u fish u tend to get better results. (if u don't get busted off that is) Sparky
  10. Try the bottom of Angelo Street Woolwich This is the lane cove river side of the point there is a Rocky outcrop with a concrete block on top of it (With holes to hold your ROD) I have fished here many times in the past and have caught Flatties, Brim, and Trevally. Blue swimmer crabs. And have been busted off many times by much larger fish. (I fish with 9lb line with a 6lb trace very light) Best time early in the morning or late in the afternoon. There use to be a guy that fished out of a canoe at this spot on the incoming tide drifting and he would get Flattie after flattie. Well worth a try anyway Good luck SPARKY
  11. Great Fish Kelvin Keep up the good work and the reports as an ammeter like myself appreciate them. Besides that if I can’t get out and go fishing (work commitments) I would rather be reading your reports. Sparky PS: May be you can let me tag along one day and show me how its done,
  12. Calamari Rings (Crumbed) Just a quick tip for calamari Use corn flour not wheat flour as the cornflour brakes down the calamari and helps To tenderise, I also use a mixture of 1/2 Breadcrumbs and 1/2 desecrated coca nut (salt to taste) This gives a slightly sweet crust.
  13. 1 Hole snapper 4-6 Kg 1/2 cup Soya Sauce 1/2 cup Honey 2 Chillies Finely Chopped. 2 Cloves Garlic Finely Chopped. Juice of 1 Lemon. 2 Tablespoons olive oil / Butter. Method Combine Honey & Soya Sauce (Stir Well) With a sharp knife cut groves into the fish at about 1 inch intervals, (Cut about half way to the bone) Place fish on a well-greased sheet of alfoil poor over half the honey & soy, Chilli, Garlic & massage into the meat. Turn over and repat the process, Add Pepper to taste (No salt) Lightly drizzle with olive oil Place a greased sheet of alfoil on top and seal 3 sides. Poor in lemon juice and seal. Leave in fridge for 1/2 to one hour turning occasionally. Preheat Oven to 180 degrease place fish on centre shelf and cook for 30 to 45 minutes (depending on size) 1-2 Kg Snapper 15 to 20 minutes. (Do not overcook, as fish will dry out) Drain juices into a small saucepan and reduce or thicken slightly. (Poor over fish after serving) Serve on a bed of boiled rice with fresh garden salad Preparation time 30 - 40 minutes Serves 4 to 8 people

  16. Hi all Raiders My first report but hear goes. Got to Meadow bank ramp about 530 am with a mate (Deniz) from work (not a fisher) Headed for the heads. As we passed south head put my mate at the helm so I Could rig a couple of lours. Went over to north head to find schools of salmon Got my first hook-up after about 10 minutes. Landed a good size salmon around 80 cm Set the lures again and this time put my mate on the rod, the next hook-up took a while Because there were a few other boats around us so we stayed wide if the school and Most of the other boats were casting at the school. (I did get pissed off with a couple Of them as they would race up to the school flat out and then STOP in front of me? For two Reasons firstly it would scare the fish and make them dive and secondly I would have to change corse To avoid my lours catching their boat) THAT’S MY BITCH Back to the fishing. We hooked up again And Deniz is having a ball got the fish to the boat to see him go for another run under the boat. Hooks gave way and he was free. (Denz is not happy) Set again and we are on again. Again Denz is on the fight but yet again lost after a leap out of the water, Set again yet another Hook-up and Finally He lands his first Salmon. AND IN HIS WORDS THE BIGGEST FISH HE HAS EVER CAUGHT. Decided that was enough fun time to get into some serious Bottom Bouncing (SNAPPER) Headed out to Whale OFF DEE WHY about 120 feet First drift nothing, back to the start. Second drift I was on BUT NOT SNAPPER finally get some colour to see a 63cm Tiger Flattie UMMMM Denz netted. 5 minuets later and he's on (at first he tried to rip the head off the fish) Slow down mate I said. A few minutes later Another Flattie hits the surface this one is Bigger about 70 cm. And quickly netted. Deinz is stoked. A few more drifts and nothing but sweep and 1 mowrie rass, so I decided to move to Murphy's A couple of drifts and nothing, I think den got a bitt board as I heard a strange noise and looked over and here he is laying down on the bench with his legs up on the transom SNORING (MUST HAVE BEEN THE EARLY START) I left him and proceeded to bait and drop again. I was sitting there enjoying the reason I bought a boat (Relaxation) and BANG, Dens rod is bent over in the rod holder I dashed to the back of the boat and grabbed it, My first thought was this a GOOD SNAPPER as it hit like a steam train. Finally got it to the surface and yes ti was a SNAPPER but not as big as first thought around 50 cm however a good fish and Worth Keeping (HAD TO WAKE DENIZ UP TO NET IT) Then he had the hide to claim the fish, as it was his rod SOME PEOPLE. Decided to call it a day around 1.30 PM All in all a great day. PS. Deniz Misses packed lunch for us, ITEMISED Box of JATZ Cubed Cheese, Cabanossi Sliced (Would have feed 10) 1 Hole Chicken, Lattice, coleslaw, Tomato (Sliced) 10 Slices of Devon 1 Large packet of cashews 6 plain bread rolls 6-sesame Brea droll Assorted packets of chips. And I took a kilo of Fresh prawns We could have fed at lease 10 Raiders Tuffey (fellow raider) also called to get an update on the catch about 1pm (he was so jealous as he was at work)
