  1. 100mm bloodworm wriggler + 3gram jighead. If they're not hitting more aggressive retrieves try tiny little hops/twitches that hardly move the lure.
  2. Think I've read every single post in tackle talk...

  3. So around 7ft might be better?
  4. Alright thanks everyone. The Wilson Mulloway looks awesome, except I need it 2piece . Would an MT8144 or 9144 be alright? LBG, what kind of rod length would you recommend? Ideally I was wanting 9-10ft, would that be better? Sounds like ballooning/floating would be better than casting so I'll give that a go.
  5. Alright thankyou both, will post any success
  6. Spinning for jewies + pelagics- out of the Tcurve Revolutions the Inshore 9 Foot 6-10kg or Bluewater 9 Foot 10-15kg?

  7. Hello again everyone Got 3 nights booked in the LCR National Park next week, and the main focus of the trip is bass fishing. I've never fished freshwater before, so I need a lot of help please Only going to take two outfits, sounds like bream gear should be alright? Was planning on taking 1-3kg tcurve revolution/saros 1000/1.5kg braid and 2-4kg trion/Stradic 2500/3kg braid. These shouldn't be too light should they? One of the main questions I have is leader- 6lb? 12lb? Really have no idea, but im thinking a bit heavier than bream leaders? Also, lures; I bought an sx40 imitation and a 45mm River2Sea bubblepop the other day, am I on the right track? A few questions, and like I said never fished freshwater before so any help would really appreciated. Thankyou Hamish
  8. Hey everyone Looking for a rod at the moment to match to a Baitrunner 12000D with 50lb braid. It will be used mainly for casting livebaits for kings and jewies from landbased around the harbour. I am finding it very hard to get a rod 'off the shelf' that can cast anywhere near a good sized mullet... Managed to find a Wilson Supergraph FSU5120 online for $200, this is about the limit of my budget (thats why I'm not going custom unfortunately). Will the 5120 be good or not heavy enough? Problem is I can't actually see/feel it to find out for myself. If 6120 would be better can someone please suggest somewhere I could get one? Thanks Hamish
  9. If you have a circle hook on the top and a suicide on the bottom, how do you know whether or not to strike?
  10. Alright thanks heaps everyone... Think I might just go with either the baitrunner or an equivalent spin reel to keep it simple, maybe try an overhead next time. I'm having trouble finding a rod 10-12foot that can cast reasonable weights (80 gram sinker + mullet/pilchard/yakka/squid)- the only option seems to one of the big grey rods at the markets which are the same as the one I found illegally dumped- 10 foot and solid, not sure how much they cost but don't appear to be too good quality. I'm pretty happy with my one though. Anybody got any suggestions? Thanks again
  11. Hey Everyone Looking at getting a new combo for landbased fishing for mainly Jewfish and Kingfish around the harbour, don't care about the rod too much but for the reel was thinking a Baitrunner 6500B with 30lb braid, but then thought maybe overhead (Charter Special about same price)... Get more drag and line capacity... The only problem is I'm not too sure whether the casting limitations would make it worthwhile. The guy at the tackle shop said it'd be ok but would the Baitrunner be a simpler and better option? Thanks Hamish
  12. Hey Everyone Thanks for the reply. Suggested that Mike (pittwaterfishing) joined the site, thought i would make it a bit clearer- We're looking for some spots close to Sydney, preferably not as far as Central Coast if we don't have to. We haven't really fished beaches very seriously before, but I was thinking i could use my big reel with 25lb mono on a 10ft rod for the heavier stuff, and I have an oldish Alvey 500 of some sort, going to try and get a cheap rod for it, with maybe 10lb mono, for bream, flatties, whiting? Would this be alright? I've heard that the 5inch could be a bit small, but don't really want to get a new reel yet... Like Mike said, want to catch just about anything. Any help re spots and tackle would be really appreciated Thanks Hamish + Mike EDIT: Might also spin some metals with the 3-6kg Trion, thanks for the suggestion.
  13. I haven't got a 3000, but I've got the 1000 and I think it's awesome... Like it just as much as, if not more than, my Stradic 2500. Haven't hooked anything massive with it but it's taken flathead to 55cm, tailor to 40cm and bream to 35cm, had it for a year and it's still good as new great reel.
  14. Ok thanks everyone, unfortunately I don't live in the area anymore but I'll ring them and find out if/where it got sent. Thanks
  15. Hey everyone, Took my Soron STX40 out yesterday, and after a few spins of the handle it was pretty clear there was something wrong... It's rough, but not like there's something in it or out of place, it feels like corrosion :/... It has been meticulously looked after in the 8months that I have had it, (I've hade a shimano saros 1000 for a year now and it still feels good as new), the only explanation I have is a dodgy service- a couple of months ago when I had a broken arm it fell off the jetty, so I took it to a tackle store and they sent it away (cost me $80), it came back feeling different but good. Ive used it maybe 3 times since then, and now it feels rusty . I'm not sure what to do, could someone please help? Thanks
  16. Anyone been busted off by a 55cmish Aussie salmon on heavy braid and wire trace recently? Caught it on whole pilly Saturday night near Abbotsford... released again.

  17. Think I got the same magazine- that article was a great read and very helpful.
  18. Just started fantasizing about a ci4 2500 with 4/8lb braid.. matched to a 2-4 kg Trion.. someone stop me I've got enough reels...
