  2. Hi fellow fishraiders, Any one know what fish i will be targeting when fishing the clyde river batemans bay around june, first time down there for a few days on a house boat would appreciate any advice cheers.
  3. where the hell!!!! i cant find any anywhere Awesome job.
  4. hi all after reading posts from fellow fish raiders with video footage of them catching kings in the bay, thought i would have a crack today. fantastic weather on the water but no fish except for those mange leather jackets were in numbers at trevally alley. lost a dozen hooks. Any ideas on trawling with squid without a down-rigger i was using swimming stile sinker no luck could find any livies or live squid. cheers
  5. doh spent the whole day being blown round the bay for a nice bream and tailor that's about it, drove home over capt cook bridge looked down thought man i should put back in here for some jewie action damn i hate hindsight. Well done on the catch. Jealous lol
  6. Good to hear the idea's and that im not the only one out there that has had this happened. As much as casting a star sinker at them sounds like a great idea, I tend to find it hard to get any of my mates out for a night fish, being by yourself best to avoid aggravating others. Its just a shame they carry on like this as we are all out doing what we all enjoy lets just enjoy it together with out the drama's would be good, I would have to agree with J hooked the music is just as bad. Feel sorry for you kyaker's the amount off boats that fly under that bridge without consideration for the anchored boats either side, getting tossed about in a boat is bad enough by these boof heads let alone being in a kyak. Oh and after my last rant about people with no anchor light, on sat night had a boat anchored in the channel forcing a yacht to have to stop and renegotiate there path even after asking the anchored boat to move out of the channel "politely". the boat in the channel told them NO and to go around them. in the words of J Hooked "Some people are UNBELIEVABLE! They have NO IDEA, NO CONSIDERATION, and NO COMMON SENSE!" Cheers Everyone good luck fishing for the big Jewies.
  7. G day all Can any body tell me if there is a legal distance one boat may anchor from another, because last night i had two boats that did not have the courtesy to keep a suitable distance from my boat. One boat even sat there with his engine running till i finally got jack of them and moved. Come on fellow boaties show consideration for your fellow boaties for safety reasons as well as avoiding fishing line tangles. Am happy in the end caught nice bream i will enjoy for lunch today. Was eluded by the jewie this time maybe it was the 30 boats around me that scared them off. Cheers
  8. Hi all I do apologize when i wrote nav lights i meant the anchor light, as on approach the vessel he could not be seen until i was on top of him. where as all the other boats in the area had anchor lights on and could be easily seen. Also he was in the main thorough fair heading up toward the middle of the bridge so i was concerned that any larger vessels may not see him until its to late and wipe him out. cheers
  9. Just would like to say if someone drives up too you and lets you know your navigation lights are not on while you are anchored. Please don't be a rude so and so and tell them they need glasses. We are required to have them on for a reason, to avoid people getting hurt. A simple thanks and have a good night will suffice. Cheers
  10. Hi all Im hiring a houseboat on the Clyde river for my 40th in June was hoping to do some fishing while there, does any one out there know if there are any fish around at this time of the month i will also have a tinny on the back so wont be restricted to just the house boat. Any advise would be greatly appreciated as there is only so much drinking and sleeping i can handle on a house boat for 4 nights with a bunch of blokes. Cheers
  11. Lots of awesome info, and lots of stuff i have put into practice. I think i have catching jewies down pat, . Hour either side of in or out going tide, top and bottom. . Number 2 bean sinker too swivel then metre trace to double snell. For strip baits. . Sliding sinker clip with any size to sit line on bottom to a swivel followed by 1.5 metre trace and double snell. For livies. . Live yakka, mullet or squid . Strip mullet or strip squid . Fish ahead of the current allow the bait to drift back with tide, leave bail arm open or drag loose. When using strip bait . . Fish edge of a drop of allow bait to drift off and over the hole when using livies, yakka or mullet make sure aren't around other baits they will tangle them. . When fish dawn or dusk i found best. . When line starts to peel of don't jump in and grab it just let it go for a minute or so, then flick bail arm or tighten drag and set hook. . If you yank line straight away jewie spits bait out, BE PATIENT! . When tide picks up after hour or so, move on or go home. Now doing this has worked for me every time i end up with at list one some times two 70+ jewies for dinner. I use 20 pound line have caught one on 12 pound line and landed but was very nervous i would lose it, key thing is keep that drag loose or bail arm open. I lost a big one last sunday at bridge in botany, forgot to release drag the jewie took the bait rod bounce up and down i loosened drag so he could run a bit and he took off big time but i had to move rods and dropped the tip then suddenly nothing it was gone must have just hooked tip of lip. Things im not sure about are if i throw one back will he spook the rest, when the water temp drops are they more inclined to hang in eddies where they can relax and not exert themselves. Any way have fun get out there my goal is for my 5 year old to land one so far he has just netted mine. Cheers.
  12. Hey all Hoping to get out for a fish this weekend have been a bit put off by the dirty water from all the rain and flooding, is it recommended not to fish in botany or would it be clean enough in the bay. Any ideas would be appreciated. Cheers
  13. Looks like a top idea im looking at doing something similar how water proof are the storage boxes like after heavy rain ?
  14. Fresh squid head was the go 12pound line letting the bait drift down with the slow moving tide at the bottom of the tide, georges river.
  15. out again last night one good 58cm jewie in the first hour of the bottom of the tide. yum yum dinner.
  16. im very keen to get back out again but the tides wont be right, not sure whether the spot will produce on the first hour and half of the out going or not.
  17. Ha ha no this is the garage fridge wife was fed up with me carrying fish thru house and storing in our food fridge, yes shame about lack of beer have to refill ASAP.
  18. Well been a while on for reports finally a good session first on sunday night gone one 52cm jewie, then last night with my son of 5years 2 jewies 2 bream and a trevally. 20. Took the boy out for a fish today as he was jealous i caught a 65cm kingie on sat he was keen to have a crack. He is only 4. Decide to fish in local boat ramp at como 5 min from home perfect day water was great aside from the jet boat races which sent us rocking. Went to old spot thats provided the goods on previous fishing trips, sure enough on the in running tide landed two salmon one 70cm one 45cm, i gave the 45cm one to a local fishing wth his son on the jetty his reel just broke hadnt caught a thing . All he had to do was come up with a story as to how they caught it.
  21. Cheers mate appreciate that, funny i caught a couple of salmon in como near jewfish bay and 1 of the salmon was 70cm. but still want to tareget the kingies., Next thing is figure out good spots for squid and yakka's has been a bit quite near moil for the yakkas. Thanks again might wait for a very calm day before i head out there.
  22. Hey fello fisho's Was wondering if any one could tell me if there any reefs or wrecks off botany that are less than 2 nautical miles. I dont have GPS or Epirb, just want to have a crack at some big snapper and the like. I do have all the other required safety equipment. Do have a sounder but only a cheapo, however still can see structure. Cheers Steven
