  1. I'm pleased to hear the tailor are around! Whenever they are, the jews aren't far away! If you catch a just legal tailor then chuck him out live and your in with a shot at a decent fish! Keep at it! I'll be trying my luck tomorrow! Hopefully something to report... Cheers, Tom
  2. I'd be looking upstream around the mangroves... seen a few last summer there.. high tide should be best
  3. Nice report mate! Kakadu sure is a magnificent place! Even when the fish aren't playing the game, the crocs and other scenery make up for it! Up north the variety is insane! In Weipa we pulled 7 different species from the one snag! Barra, Jacks, Fingermark, Blue Salmon, Grunter, Bream and catfish.. We also had a disappointing day when out on one of the bottom bashing charters.. One legal Blue Salmon and a few undersized fish all day... Although the only other keeper caught was a 12kg black jew.... Queenies and the likes are top fun so make sure you have a go next time! Great Report! Cheers, Tom

    JEWGINITY

hahahaha! Plenty of spots in the parra river and lane cove... I'm sure someone else will be able to point you in the right direction unless your keen on Middle Harbour... May be able to help in that case
  8. Some rate them well but many don't.. And I'm with those who don't eat them... They make top bait and great fun to catch!
  9. Well done on a MH Jew! or two in your case The kings would have been fun as well. Looks like things are livening up finally!
  10. Top king mate Can definitely understand what how it felt to fight a king on light gear. Caught a 67cm model on 2-4kg stick and 6lb earlier a few months ago landbased and it was an incredible fight. Almost spooled me!
  11. Lovely reds Do you get them over summer too? If so i may have a crack from the yak!
  12. Bad luck mate I often find that Lion Island fishes well this time of year and especially when the river itself is shut down. Bream, Flathead, Flounder, Snapper, Salmon and Kings should be around. Not to mention some nice jewfish if you know where to look. Keep at it and the results will come. Cheers, Tom

Thanks Ian! All the best for yourself too! Hope you have a great summer with plenty of PBs of course!

    Best tides

Well the good thing about Roseville is that if you come all that way for an allnighter, there are always decent spots available.

    Best tides

I'll certainly be dusting off the gear then Might be ambiscious but man i want a 20kg fish this summer!
  16. As spooled said, unless you plan to venture upstream then the gates wont be a problem. Good luck!
  17. I'd say pm for flatties. Run out tide late afternoon is prime... Bream and whiting at the top of the tide
  18. The only way i can get them is either fishing a standard small float rig or unweighted bits of bread. The unweighted option only works when wind is minimal. The beach on the roseville side of the bridge has plenty of mullet and can be caught with the previous techniques. One of those clear traps are also an option
  19. Nice jew. Looks like sugarloaf... bad luck on the biggie
  20. I am by no means an expert, having only caught a few. My BEST ADVICE is to keep persisting. The way i look at it is, you need to have the right bait/lure in the right place at the right time. Moral of the story is put hours in and you'll get the rewards! Keep at it! Cheers, Tom

    Best tides

Seems like im out-numbered here in regards to small tides vs big tides. I'd go with the big tides theory as it seems to make sense especially if you fish the slack water. If you ever go up north though, the small tides (neap tides) are the go for jews..... Great advice from grant Cheers, Tom
  22. Don't know if you can get to deep creek flats without a water craft but another option is parking at billarong reserve and wading around. Good bream, flathead and whiting. Great during summer.
  23. Roseville Bridge sounds like what your looking for. Located in upper middle harbour, has a fair few jews. They aren't caught easily but through persistence and good technique can be caught. Caught a nice 9kg fish there a few months ago. I like to flick SP's around and have a live mullet/tailor or a fillet of one out on the other rod. The still water on the tide changes is your best shot but fishing at night means the tide is slightly less important than day. You can also fish HB's here if thats what you want. Concentrate around the lit up areas near the pylons. If the jews are slow bream and flatties can be caught here as well. Once summer comes, fish a dusk tide change near the overhead pipe (you'll know where this is once you see it) using the same techniques and it should pay off eventually. 'The Steps' in sugarloaf bay is also a top spot. You get kings and good bream here. Give these spots a go and hopefully you find that jew your looking for! Cheers, Tom
