  1. Yeah narrabeen on the yak.. bit windy though.. I'd be fishing balmoral on weekdays at the moment. While your livebait us out you can at least muck around with trevs and leatherjackets. I know i have been very encouraging about the roseville bridge but it really has gone very quiet in the last month or so.. Couldn't even get any live mullet this morning there... But come Mid october on i will be fishing it a lot again. Plenty of school jew should come in by then.. Tom
  2. Got a 52cm flattie at narrabeen today as well as a few nice tailor... Middle Harbour is an on - off place so you have to be prepared for a donut if you fish it.. The fish are generally pretty good in there though! Kings are starting to show up. I would lean towards MH but not Roseville Bridge. Maybe head down to balmoral and fish yakkas for salmon, tailor, kings and the odd bonito. There are plenty of good flathead on the bottom too! Cheers, Tom
  3. I have landed rat kings to 67cm so it can handle some of the bigger fish for sure. Big fish on light gear is where angling the fish really comes about. Go the 4000 if you want but it will be more suitable for bait and flicking for jews etc... The 4000 is just too heavy to fish for bream and the average flathead on. Sorry about ranting but i made this mistake a while ago and ended up selling it... Maybe talk to your local tackle store for some advice. Tom
  4. By the sounds of it, your looking for a light combo for flicking lures at Bream, flatties etc... The Stradic Ci4 is a great reel but i would be looking at the 2500 size rather than the 4000. 4000 is more suitable to jewfish, rat kings and snapper. Rod wise, the jewell range should suit you. You can get them for $100 online but in most tackle stores they're about $140. The Pflueger Trion is a similar price and also a decent rod. For $250, have a look at the lighter models of the T-Curve. Top rods and perfect for SP fishing. I would recommend a 3-6kg rod as its a perfect balance between finesse bream fishing and flicking bigger plastics for flatties. 2-4kg will be okay, especially if your mainly after bream. Have a look around and see what you like. Cheers, Tom
  5. Thanks a lot mate! Looks good
  6. Definitely have a quick look next time as the creeks have some brilliant fishing!
  7. Don't fish landbased in the main harbour much mate... especially not LCR. Didn't actually know that there were kings in LCR either.. Looking at the photo properly now its not rocks but a path or something.. certainly no paths on the foreshore of north head
  8. Best i've ever done up there is 16 so you've outdone me! Did you have a look in the creeks? The barra should have been waking up ...
  9. Lovely hairy! And in MH too!
  10. Hi raiders, Most likely heading out tomorrow on the yak. The one thing i learnt when christening it, DO NOT USE IT IN STRONG WIND.. doesn't apply to tomorrow as winds are fairly light in the afternoon. I haven't really caught much from it yet only having used it once.. High tide at 4:30 tomorrow afternoon, grabbing a few poddies and flicking while having one out seems very jewfishy... My only concern is that it will most likely be a donut as most jewie sessions are... Do you think i would be better off flicking for flatties in narra lakes and having a poddy out there for a bigger flattie? Might have a look up the creeks for bream and EP's if i had head up there... Just can't decide... Cheers, Tom
  11. hahaha took a guess as most of the kings this time of year are around the heads...
  12. I'll have a look on Google Earth. I there any actually boat ramp in the lake? I see tinnies in there so there must be a ramp somewhere....
  13. Hi raiders, Planning to fish narra lakes in the next few days. I have a hobie pro angler 12 (weighs 50kg+) and not sure where to launch it. Is there a small boat ramp somewhere? I can't really carry it far or through rough terrain either. Cheers, Tom
  14. What i do is set my trap (less than a foot of water) and fish about 15m away using a small hook, tiny float and bread for bait. Check your trap after 10 minutes or so and then if nothing move on. If you burley you'll find them eventually! Tom
  15. In calm seas west head would be pretty good. Get plenty of big jew hanging around there due to the supply of yakkas and squid. The by-catch are salmon, kings and flatties so no too bad. Stokes point is worth a look too. Lost a good jew there last year on a yakka. Side of the boat and 20lb (intended for flathead) wore out... fish was 1m+ too.... Plenty of nice bream and flathead around as well
  16. Hawkesbury is a very hard place to fish. Once you figure it out it gets easier... My order would be.. 1. Sydney Habour 2. Hawksbury 3. Georges 4. Port Hacking I haven't fished georges or hacking a whole lot so can't judge too well.... Cheers, Tom
  17. I also have recently purchased the 4x dsi. Haven't used it much yet but already when setting it up i had a few technical errors... It is probably irrelevant but it has a max of 80m depth (your probably not in water that deep with that particular sounder anyway..) I probably haven't been much help being relatively new to sounders but maybe it would be worth getting someone to have a look at the connections etc.. Tom
  18. Greenwich! Good to see them well inside the harbour already!
  19. Cracking fish mate! 47cm is a horse! You've outdone my PB for sure
  20. North Head? Looks like it.. Nice kings
  21. Have a look at the Z-man 2.5" grubs in either bloodworm or watermelon red. The Pumpkinseed 3" gulp minnow is a favourite of mine on bream, trevally, flathead and the odd whiting. 3" is certainly not too big! I caught a 38cm bream on a 5" Jerkshad once. Hooked in the corner of the jaw so definitely attempting to eat it! Much better of using 2-3" though.. 100mm wrigglers will catch the bigger bream i find! Cheers, Tom
  22. Samaki's look very nice... Will certainly consider one!
