  2. Looking forward to it, what tackle are you using at the moment Coollamon? Cheers Evil
  3. Jealous of you Robeebee, have to get out of Sydney soon for a bash. Maybe Ulladulla. Cheers Evil
  4. Here's the plait, use the step by step function to get a better picture how to tie http://www.marinews.com/Plaiting-a-Double-427.php Here's the Yucatan http://www.leadertec.com/tipsandtechniques...ts_yucatan.html
  5. Big winter bream not so many bites but when they go , trevors, tailor and hopefully salmon and maybe even a jewie off the beach. Oh and a charter or two as well. Cheers
  6. I agree with Casper, I have used it and caught bream and trevors but would only use as a backup. Cheers
  7. Hi Coolamon are you going out in the boat or LB? I might catch up if your land based (or have a spare spot in the boat). Cheers Evil
  8. Please put me down for a beanie, I won't be at the social so could I maybe pick it up from Fishfinder? Otherwise just let me know how to get hold of it. Thanks Chris PS the surf hat has been magic over the summer
  9. Thanks Stewy, will have a look at trying the plait as well, took me about an hour and a half (lots of swearing and bashing inanimate objects) to get the hang of the 12 turn Bimini and still stuff it up from time to time. Cheers Evil
  10. Nice one champ, Mick when is the final? Evil
  11. Kind of looks like a little bream. What do you guys think would large flatties (or other fish suggestions?) go for it in the salt? http://www.tackletour.com/reviewmluresultimatebg.html Cheers Evil
  12. Have the Spheros 14000 loaded with 50lb braid, and a solid Banax baitrunner with 30lb braid. I know most people tie Bimini's with more twists but I'm game to try the 12 turn on the basis of the article. Cheer Evil
  13. Great looking rod the 4000 size reel looks to be the right balance for it. Looking forward to reading the fishing report or maybe give us a full report on the rod in the tackle section. Top stuff Tom Cheers Evil
  14. I know I can buy the Knotted Dog leaders but I would like to make some 2 strand flourocarbon leaders for breamin'. Does anybody make their own twister leaders or know how to make them? I have heard good things about lure fishing with twisted leaders and braid as the leader gives a little on the strike without compromising the sensitivity of braid. Cheers Evil
  15. Thanks for the heads up fellas, they blew my mind when I saw them and there wasn't much of a description about them on the site. Cheers
  16. Hey robo have a search on the forums as this has been discussed before. I agree they would take the fun out of fishing UNLESS you are out on the shelf or are handicapped then these reels would really come into their own. Cheers Evil
  17. Thanks for the link, I actually remember reading that article in the mag but haven't been offshore or fishing for anything of size recently so I haven't had the chance to try the 12 turn bimini. Had a trip organised a couple of weeks ago to the Hawkesbury and was going to give it a go with some large tailor strip baits but my neighbour (who organised the trip) got on the and after 45 minutes banging on his door at 4 in the morning I decided to call it quits and went back to bed. Look forward to seeing if anyone uses the 12 turn and yucatan. Cheers Evil
  18. Thanks for the report Mick, haven't seen anything from you or your friends for a while. How's your son been doing? Cheers Evil
  19. Nice first report Savage73. Well done on the excellent couple of days fishing, the guys at Fishfinder are tops. Hope to see more posts in the future. (and maybe some pics) Cheers Evil PS sorry about the pics comment, Ben beat me to it
  20. I was looking on some Japanese sites today and discovered these reels http://www.plat.co.jp/english/daiwa/salt_reel/top.htm, has anyone actually seen or used one before??? When I first saw them I was - what the . Any info on them would be appreciated. Cheers Evil
  21. I fit about that of 50lb braid (spiderwire I think), but you can find thinner braids around. Evil
  22. Hi Heath great job on the rod, what rod did you start with? Cheers
  23. Sorry to highjack, Kelvin what failed on the Torsa? Cheers Evil
  24. Eggbeater for sure, you'll get more distance and be able to cast the lighter weights required using SP's. Cheers Evil
