I would like some info on tips and tricks for the subject. I'm keen to try some clip down rigs with impact shields or similar rigs. Anyone out there keen to share some knowledge and or pics/video on the matter? I've had a look at the tube and they show the shield and set up but not so much the hook and main line set up and how the casting pressure doesn't dislodge the shield when casting. Any help would be appreciated.

To late to be carefull by the looks of it you have already taken home undersized fish and posted it on line great work.

Going by my powers of deduction if the snapper is 30cm the tarwine next to the flatty are 45cm and the flathead itself would be 115cm Noting the incorrect identification of the tarwine I strongly doubt my deductions are correct

You said the very first guy was keeping juvenile chopper then caught a legal. So was he keeping undersize fish?

There are some BIG tailor in the harbour at the moment I had one attack a pinkie I was winding in yesterday. Bit the pinkies back 1/4 completely off in one bite and the Pinkie came off the hook at the same time. While the pinkie was floating on the surface the tailor came back and finished the job off and swam away with the rest. Biggest tailor I’ve seen in Sydney I thought it was a rat king when it first grabbed the pinkie.

I did a 1/2 day fishing tour years ago used the boats gear and bait and caught a few fish. A Japanese guy whipped the water to a foam with lures and didn't get a bite. At least you got some action and excitement

Why do you use the rod length of 50lb mono and not some longer 80 FC and how do you attach the 50 mono to 80 FC?

Nice pigs. I'm gonna have a crack this arvo in a similar spot that is only good in rough seas and a high tide. I hope it doesn't take an hour for the first bite though.

The banks I'm talking about are 14kms out. As MRS Sordie said there is another reef/system I call the shallows that is the one you guys are talking about. There are lots of places to fish and a million gps marks to choose from. If you got some marks you want to try then go try them out and then tell us the story when you get back.

The Banks are 14km east of the Currarong ramp. Not to be undertaken in anything less than a suitable ocean going boat with all the gear. No place for a first time offshore venture.
