Spawning season is from June to October so those rules won't apply to you this weekend. Lake Jindabyne is open all year round and not impacted by spawn rules so you could have a walk and a flick around there or are you more specifically looking for streams to fish?

I pulled the heads off a few worms when I was learning but never knew you could dig up the body. I thought they went too deep back into the sand to get up!

Sometimes it's more fun watching the kids catch a fish than doing it yourself. Only sometimes though!

Well done catching fish on surface lures I think it has to is the best fun of all.

If I were you I'd concentrate on 1 species of fish to try and catch and refine your learning curve for that fish!

I grew up in Narrandera and caught my first fish in the bidgee when I was 2(with a bit of help) believe it or not it was a rainbow trout probably washed down stream from good floods the previous winter!

There is a legendary beach/rock fishing guide of Italian name who was catching beach worms at Manly on the weekend just gone. The worms will stick their heads up in seconds if they are there. Getting them out of the sand is the tricky part. In busy places the worms my be a little more timid.

shore jigging lures tend to flutter more than twisties/ raider type lures as they sink so can be more effective when "jigged" you can let your twisty sink to the bottom and "jig" retrieve it but you will most probably lose a few lures buy getting snagged on rocks doing this (single hooks may reduce this) get to know the depth of the area you fish and count as the lure sinks to regulate the different depths you want the lure to be as with any lure casting you can impart many different actions by using the rod and reel to jerk, twitch, pause, sink, drag and crank to name a few. experiment until you get a bite or your arms fall off trying
