  1. I wanted Dad to have a great day we go fishing every fortnight and last time I killed it that's why I called the thread "Dad's Revenge " here's last trip http://fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=20480
  2. hit the water 'bout 6.30 am bit foggy so we took it easy , went along to the first baths and drifted we were both using 4" Gulp turtleback worms in pumpkinseed with 1/6 th ounce nitro jigheads was a bit quiet for the first 20 mins nice drift straight along the beach then Dad's on , bit of a struggle , fish see's the boat and off again, eventually lands a 59 cm flattie was slow for me for a while and was wondering if it was 'cause i had a banana I finally get runs on the board with a small reddie , (one day I'll get one bigger than 29 cm's) we drift further down and the action hot's up a bit (thank god ) I get a nice flounder (YUM ) , then a 32 cm Whiting which surprisingly took a bit of line we get down to Doll's Pt and were into the flatties , in close and only 1.3 mtrs of water and loving it 2 cast's in a row and I score 2, 39 cm models closely followed by Dad scoring 53 and a 55 cm beauty's I get 2 more at 36 and 37 cm 's but set them free then a couple more at 39 and 40 and we call it quit's a beautiful day on the water and a great feed of fish (glad Dad had a good day ) till next time , good luck and good fishing

  6. I think the twisty is more a surface lure , not for jigging I have used one with schools of Tailor just chuck it in or near the school and hang on

  10. what technique do you use to retrieve a hard body like this ? do you give it a little flick or just reel in ?
  11. I'm buying another on Thursday I might even get a bigger one too have any of you tried the 48 ?
  12. Congrats I know how it feels to finally get into some decent fish
  13. salmon are great fun on light gear not a good eating fish imo fish cakes maybe
  14. top effort on light gear hope they hang around till monday week when I'm on the bay again
  15. I was land based I don't think that would work if you are level and 30 feet away
  16. went for a flick at Bald face Pt this morning to check out my new sx 40 (bought Friday arvo ) first cast a bream hits and I don't get a chance to see or feel the action of the lure a small run and i land a 24 cm model I'm thinking, this is a good bream lure next cast I get a chance to feel the action and I'm impressed wiggles and shakes like a little beauty anyway , a couple more cast's and I snag it SHIT ! I try everything bar going for a swim but alas it's gone If anyone want's to go for a dive I can tell you exactly where it is if I can afford it I'll buy another next week
  17. I've recently started sharpening my jighead hooks (even brand new ones ) just a couple of wipes down a small sharpening stone and they are like needles I used to drop a lot of fish, but I put a lot of my recent success down to sharp hooks what do you blokes reckon ?
  18. didn't measure it , sorry , should have for my own benefit being my first i put it back as we had enough fish and dad said there not great eating would have gone about 45 cm's ? P.S. don't think I'll be using a rod bag anymore
  19. sorry for the delay on this report as i broke the tip on my new rod and have been a tad upset anyway me and dad went out on monday for a gulp only session hit the ramp at 7.00 and was nice and quiet went just along the beach as far as the Novatel and got a nice drift going in 12' of water put on a 2"shrimp natural and sprayed with ultrabite first cast I'm on and it's a small reddie, still , first fish gets my heart going everytime second cast another reddie 29 cm's this time , getting better third cast something is pulling drag now and i'm onto a good fish but alas i drop it I know what your gunna say , every cast a fish? but it was great out there on Monday anyway, i get another good run, but boat it this time , a nice 30 cm bream ,fat one too by this time my Dad is getting a little peeved as he has had just a few bites so i give him one of my Nitro jigheads and he tries a sandworm next drift he lands a 40 cm flattie, finally . I get another good bream and have some fun with reddies (30 cm now but I set them free ) got a 28 cm flounder aswell wind picks up and changes direction so we head up to Dolls pt get another drift going and the water is a bit shallower , bout 9 to 10' put on a 4" turtleback worm (yeah I know they are for freshwater ) first cast I'm on , rod bends and get him near the boat and takes line get the net for a 52 cm flattie next 2 casts i net a 55cm model followed by a 58 cm cracker this is like a dream! wind is making it hard to drift as we cant reel in fast enough, and Dad's still getting nothing we anchor and clean the fish as the water is still filthy near the ramp i have a couple of casts as dads gutting the fish and ZZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIINNNNG !!!!!!!!! pulling line like mad this one , big bream ? after 5 minutes and sore forearms a nice Trevally never got one of them before , pull like a train , great fun on light gear get the boat out of the water and pack up put my rod in the rod bag and tie it up and line goes slack shit there goes the tip took it to my local tackle shop and He tells my it it not so bad (thank god i thought it was stuffed ) he files the tip and fits a new guide and says i will only lose a bit of sensitivity and cant use really light line anymore I only use 6 pound so that is okay (i cant tie knots with 2 and 4 pound ) so a bad end to a great day out I'll give the rod a go on the weekend at the breakwalls to see how it is sorry no pic's as I had the shits
  20. I'll have to give that a go !
