sorry for the delay on this report as i broke the tip on my new rod and have been a tad upset
anyway
me and dad went out on monday for a gulp only session
hit the ramp at 7.00 and was nice and quiet
went just along the beach as far as the Novatel and got a nice drift going in 12' of water
put on a 2"shrimp natural and sprayed with ultrabite
first cast I'm on and it's a small reddie, still , first fish gets my heart going everytime
second cast another reddie 29 cm's this time , getting better
third cast something is pulling drag now and i'm onto a good fish but alas i drop it
I know what your gunna say , every cast a fish? but it was great out there on Monday
anyway, i get another good run, but boat it this time , a nice 30 cm bream ,fat one too
by this time my Dad is getting a little peeved as he has had just a few bites
so i give him one of my Nitro jigheads and he tries a sandworm
next drift he lands a 40 cm flattie, finally .
I get another good bream and have some fun with reddies (30 cm now but I set them free )
got a 28 cm flounder aswell
wind picks up and changes direction so we head up to Dolls pt
get another drift going and the water is a bit shallower , bout 9 to 10'
put on a 4" turtleback worm (yeah I know they are for freshwater )
first cast I'm on , rod bends and get him near the boat and takes line
get the net for a 52 cm flattie
next 2 casts i net a 55cm model followed by a 58 cm cracker
this is like a dream!
wind is making it hard to drift as we cant reel in fast enough, and Dad's still getting nothing
we anchor and clean the fish as the water is still filthy near the ramp
i have a couple of casts as dads gutting the fish and ZZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIINNNNG !!!!!!!!!
pulling line like mad this one , big bream ? after 5 minutes and sore forearms a nice Trevally
never got one of them before , pull like a train , great fun on light gear
get the boat out of the water and pack up
put my rod in the rod bag and tie it up and line goes slack
shit
there goes the tip
took it to my local tackle shop and He tells my it it not so bad (thank god i thought it was stuffed )
he files the tip and fits a new guide and says i will only lose a bit of sensitivity and cant use really light line anymore
I only use 6 pound so that is okay (i cant tie knots with 2 and 4 pound )
so a bad end to a great day out
I'll give the rod a go on the weekend at the breakwalls to see how it is
sorry no pic's as I had the shits
