Hi Yowie, FIshed Sat arvo for bait, berleyed up water with stale bread and plenty around. Landed about 10 or so, now have some fresh bait. Fished early Sun morning, very slow couple of just on size bream, switched to SP and retrieved slow over weed beds only to bit hit a couple of times by hairtail, naunces. Just on top of tide, the place just went dead, no bait fish, no bites, nothing. Don't think much happening at present. Earlier in year fished bends with large nippers unwaited and landed 2 x whiting, 41cm and 39cm. They're there just picky. Cheers WD

Hi All, Interested to know if anyone does well catching fish between the boat ramp at Woronora near bridge and down into the Georges around Como rail bridge. Appreciat any advice on, spots, rig, bait or SP's and tides. Cheers WD

Geat reprot and well done, what a day. A few years ago, spun the same drop off with SP, 4"shad and got slammed just at the drop off in about 1 to 1.5mts of water. It only took a few casts, a couple of flicks bouncing the shad across the bottom, and the scent from the Gulp shad must have then woken the old fella up and he decided to have a snack, as he hit the SP pretty hard. Landed a nice 45cm flattie and had a great time. Look forward to gettin back out there soon. Cheers WD

Hi, I work around Pyrmont wharf area on the western side of the harbour. Went and had a quick flick with sp's after work this week ( land based from wharf ), flicking sp 3" flick baits back u'neath the wharves and there were a few medium size kings that made a blurt for them and then turned away. They were surface feeding alos seemed to be a school of around 6 of them. They then moved away out into the middleof the bay on th eastern side of anzac bridge in front of the container terminals where the concret blocks are. Nt sure if this helps but they were very active and thrashing around a bit when out in middle of bay. Average length would have to be 65 / 70cm +. Good luck WD

Hi All, Took my 6 yo daughter out early Sat morn for a fish as she just loves it. We were on the water just on sun up and even if we didn't catch a fish the journey was great. We started firstly fishing around Como Bridge but tide was too fast so after trynig a few spots with nothing we headed back up stream. Well using hawsburry prawns on light weight it was not long before we had a few good runs. My daughter had a great old fight on her hands with a bream that would not give up and after a while we boated a fair size bream. A big effort for a 6yo on light gear. Pic attached check the bend in the rod Me not much just spent most of my time putting bait on teh hook for the professional angler in the boat ( Em ). Back at the ramp there was a smile of satisfaction that no playstation can ever deliver , the feeling of having a fish, catching a few and just getting out there...happy fishing guy's, if you've got kids get them out there!!! cheers WD

Hi Rob, Yeah, very rarely go out without the boat but when I get the chance I head down to Tom Uglys or Captain Cook bridges for a land based sp session for a few hours to see what I can drag up. It's not always super productive, which questions that I may be doing soemthing wrong, though I usually get a few good hits and the odd fish ( mainly bream ). cheers wd

G'day, I've found the same, if fishing at night I am using either shads or larger . Last night fish outing I used a berkley power bait 4" minnow grub in glass minnow ( clear ) with a 1/16 head for casting from land ( left boat at home ) and then just used a slow medium slow medium retrieve and let the tail do the work. This sp also has a reflector foil inside so with some light above me from a bridge it worked well. Caught bream only a few good keepers along with plenty of aggro little guy's which makes me think it was the tail action and not the size of the sp grub( only an opinion ). Then changed my spot and sp to a 1/24 head with a 2" pink lemonade grub flicking around a jetty with a few boats and got my little sp dragged kicking and screaming under a boat and busted off ( big bream?? ), so for me at night shads or grubs.. hope this helps. cheers wd

Hi Bob, in relation to jig heads, sp's and retrieves I am also working through the maze of what works where? One thing I have found is that the lighter the jig head the better action I can get out of a stick bait ie 3" minnow or squidggy 3"stick baits. I have been using 1/40 and 1/36 Gamakatsu jigs where the weight is actually hidden in the sp as you slide them on is v/good and when you let them sink the sp floats down evenly not head first. these are great for around pylons and structure etc. retrieve is basic : 1. cast and then let sp sink while watching slack line on top of water. 2. when sp on bottom, a slow soft tap of the rod tip sideways twice and then let sink. I do this for about 4 goes and then give it a slow slow retrieve like the sp ( baitfish ) is trying to slowly get going. 3. then after all of this let it drop for about 3 - 5 seconds and start all over again. I am no steve starling but this has really worked for me. one tip I read was before your cast out just cast short so you can see what you sp is doing and adjust your retrieve to suit, to my amazement the new 3" stick bait Sp from squiddgies actually really swims like a fish with some great body movement all the way through the sp, so this is how I adjusted my retrieve to get some slow swimming into it. Every fish I have hooked using this method was in the last part of the retrieve when I was slowly winding it back to the boat in a struggling swimming style.... As for flatties, mainly 1/16 jig head silver ball and 3" & 4" shads mainly berkley gulp, works a treat, nice simming action as it sinks also. retrieve is basic flattie retrieve : 1. cast and let sink to bottom 2. 3 or 4 short bounces across the bottom then a good strong flick of the tip 3. let it sink and sit for about 3- 5 seconds and start again this has been good to me also. with grubs I mainly let the tail do most of the work but if utilise the same retireves depending on depth and current. long winded but hope this adds to your success happy sp'ing cheers wd

Hi all, I was out at Auburn today for work and across the road from the Mc Donalds on a cnr opposite a pub with a big sign " Live Bait" is a great little tackle shop. so ventured to have a look and there is a specials table pretty full of berkley power bait 2" minnows in a variety of colours. price = 4 packs for $10. There were also some 3" minnows in ginger beer so I grabbed 2 x 2" and 2 x 3". For $10 buck who's to argue. Plenty of stock so if you're out that way dig in, not a bad deal at all ( I reckon ) cheers WD

Thanks everyone for all your help, it's good to get an insight into what everyone else is doing / using. I have heard that vanish has had these problems in the past an dthe same with fireline, so not sure. I am using a dark grey fireline and it seems good so not sure. I've started using a double uni with about 6- 7 turns on each (plenty of spit )and it pulls in really tight, so here's hoping!!!! thanks again guys really appreciate the feedback from everyone....wd
