I was spinning on the sandflats just behind the oyster leases where th erun off from the mangroves is. looks like a good spot, so thought I would have a crack, first time fishing there and not bad. good luck cheers wd re pics, the site is telling me they are too large??? not sure how to reduce?
  4. sounds like they were fair size kings. I've been using 6" silver sluggo's with no luck. What sort of sp and jig head were you guys using, sounds like it works well... maybe better luck next time on heavier gear cheers wd
  5. Well this is turning out to be a good week . Bust off on SP down the coast earlier in the week and now my first flattie on SP in B/Bay on Sat. Fished the run in for bream , no luck a few hits but nothing solid, so moved around and started spinning sand flats with a SP shad for flatties. About 10 mins into it flicking between some weed and a drop off I hooked my first flatty on an SP.... about 37 / 38cm long not bad, but after a couple of smiling pics he was released. Wind came up about midday so I went in one happy fisho..... Good luck out there guy's, have fun. Pics attached cheers WD

  8. Hi All, Well I have been trying my best to hook a fish on SP's and after a thousand casts ( exaggerated but feels like it ) and frustration, I scored a ripper. So now I'm convinced they work and I have never had a fish take off like that before. I was down the coast this week for work and ended up at Batemans Bay, and funny enough had a rod and some sp's in the back of the car!!! Thursday morning got up early just before sun up and on the last two hours of a run in tide on the main river. So I decide to fish off and around one of the wharves... I was flicking sp's around had lots of little hits but nothing, mainly little pickers I think, and again a few choice words were now coming to mind about SP's. So after trying everything ( probably everything wrong ) I approached it differently. I had been casting and letting the sp sink a little then retrieve it back around the wharf pylons, which I thought would be a definite. At the top of the tide as the water slowed I cast and just let the SP sink to the bottom then started a slow little jerky retrieve..and let it sink again..I was using a 7ft abu rod ,2000 reel with 8lb fireline and 10lb mono trace with a Berkley - Power Bait - 3" minnow in Pumpkin seed. A few casts went by, and then slam..I am assumming it was a solid bream and the reel was screamimg on a firm drag.. This tussle went on for about 2 - 3 mins with some really hard tugs and then with a burst energy the bludger ran me straight under the wharf and headed deep ....the reel still screaming now tightened up a little more and then you know the end "zing" a bust off!!! Well regardless of the fish getting away, the ride was unreal, so looks like I will now become addicted to SP's...this was one of the best little tussles....unreal... Cheers fella's ps: really enjoy the site and your reports..WD
  9. G'day, have also heard the same thing but have not used it. Everytime I fish Botany Bay I use chook pellets, but the ones that are treated with Tuna oil and I get good results, and when cleaning the fish they are full of the burley I used so this works 9 I think )?? As for land based, not sure but I used to use an old stocking with mashed pilly's and some tuna oil and throw a few sinkers in it to weight down or if trying to get some surface action just let it float around while being tied onto a hand line...Hope this helps you out.. Cheers Wayne
  10. Well done mate, you must have been absolutely pumped with that effort..great stuff. I'm interested to know what sort of SP you were using as lately I have started on SP's and I'm using berkley Gulp 3" shad and saltware powerbait in a 3" minnow. A few nibbles, have had a couple of kings take a real long look at the shad down near Lilli Pilli but no hits as yet!!! Good on ya Cheers Wayne
  11. Smooth... Great report lads, nice haul, I reckon a cold beer would have just been the cherry on top at the end of that sesh.. If you feel like sharing a few tips what sort of SP's were you guys using...5" shads?? Great stuff, good for you.. Cheers Wayne
  12. Good on ya David, I'm yet to hook a kingie, have had them chase my SP's, swim underneath the tinnie and everything else except shout a beer, evasive buggers...anyway it's one up for the boys, congrats must feel great to land a couple of the masked raiders... I'll post a note when I finally land one!! Cheers Wayne
  13. Thanks Jewel, a few guy's have advised the same. So I will wait for a real low tide and head in there...Slowly!! Cheers again WD Thanks Tony, great advice mate....will let you know how I go. 20 fish sessions would be unreal!!! Cheers Wayne Thanks to all the advice re Woolaware Bay oyster leases. Not sure if I am replying the right way so thought I'll post this, thanks again note.. cheers Wd
  14. Hey guy's, Bought a new tinnie last year and now have the time to use it!!! Live south and always wanted to get in amongst the oyster lease in woolaware bay to wrestle with a few mongrel bream. I've not got a depth sounder and not sure which way to cruise in as to avoid getting stuck in there.... Any experiences or advice out there, would really appreciate some, though also respectful of not broadcasting good spots..cheers WD
  15. Great story on the SP's Steve, I have just started trying them myself and have never been sure if they work. I fish the same spots and Port Hacking so I'm keen to get stuck into it...Cheers WD
